what a woderful video,Zenyatta seemslike such a caring and gentle mother, Even though i am an old hardboot, this video brought a tear to my eye. the Mosses are very special people and there is definitely a place in heaven for them.

God blessed the racing world with the Thoroughbred breed. UNION RAGS will romp in the 137th Preakness Stakes and one day .. could have a LOVE affair with Queen Zanyatta.

You are right about the state of the breed, but there is nothing magical about the sire line. It is still possible to put together a broodmare band that has quality outcross blood. An inbred stud can sire an outcross foal.

You can also use your judgement to find those horses who have the name on the page but not in the blood. Inheritance does not proceed on a bell curve; the odds are more like a coin flip. Many of Nasrullah's descendants do not have a single Nasrullah-derived gene. If it doesn't look like Nasrullah, run like Nasrullah, sire like Nasrullah . . .

Nasrullah has been dead for over 50 years and you won't find him generally anywhere nearer than 6 generations ago. I think Tapit, for example, shows no one need fear the influence of Nasrullah. If you wanted to bring in fresh blood do it like it was originally done and open "the book" to outside mares. How about some good 1/2 thoroughbred quarter horses for starters? One of my children gave me a calendar with photographs of all kinds of horses and the one I've not discarded is Feb 28th described as "an Arabian-Andalusian mare" She looks like George Stubbs invented her

Interesting podcast. But I am disappointed they did not address the issue of inbreeding and the desperate need for new bloodlines that don't carry Nasrullah multiple times. They did mention the recent acquisition of Hat Trick, but didn't talk about what an amazing outcross he is.

Hat Trick has no crosses to Nearctic, Native Dancer or Bold Ruler. He has the really old bloodlines that seem to have fallen out of fashion in North America and Europe. More stallions like him are badly needed.

The Mosses exemplify what ALL Thoroughbred owners should be. They've done such an excellent job managing Zenyatta's career and most importantly, making sure she is HAPPY. There are so many neglected and forgotten runners out there; who could ever forget poor Ferdinand? It's a pleasure to see this type of stewardship and even better that we got to share in so much as fans.

I want to Thank the Moss's for sharing Zenyatta with all of us peons.... you have no idea how much it has meant!!!! Ann is right - "she is such a Gift" and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for sharing her and her new foal - it's been absolutely wonderful and exciting!!! Please keep us posted, as to how they are doing. :)

I got the pleasure of watching Zenyatta win the Ladies Breeders Cup race and then the following year winning the Classic against the boys. Absolutely love her "dance". Would like to see the baby playing (running) with her in the paddock. Question: Whom will they breed Zenyatta back to this year?

Has it dawned on anybody else in the world that HOY voters seem to think only American horses are the best in the world? There have been a couple super Japanese horses and now we have Black Caviar. Judging by what's been planned for her this yr., if she makes it to Royal Ascot or Dubai or the Breeder's Cup, I say hand her the award right then. I daresay there's no American horse that can come close to her. My fondest wish would have been to see her vs. Zenyatta. Oh, well...

Thanks for all you do for the horses! We are a 501c3 racehorse rescue FLTRAC Florida retirement and adoptive care. We work directly with Calder and Gulfstream and are funded by a percentage of their purses. The jockeys also give us a dollar per mount. We are all volunteers except for our farm mgr. We are based in Palm City Fla. We currently have about 85 horses in our program. Our goal is to rehab and adopt horses out to their forever home. We have a screening process, visit the farms, and each horse is appointed a guardian who checks on the horse. Any suggestions you may have, we would love to hear from you! I live in Sweden and look at Jive who is training by Jessica Lng so you see a new star! Its won a victory at our track Jägersro.

I am a fan of horseraces all over the world and I write only Zenyatta so you see my point!
