This weekend I have seven horses racing from my virtual stable at www.roadtotheroses.com. It is the last chance for a few of my horses to make a convincing move for the Kentucky Derby presented by Yum Brands

re: Crown the King with a Derby

I like what I saw from Colonel John as well, but was kind of disturbed by Pyro's performance. I do believe he wasn't in the race from the beginning and most likely due to the synthetic surface, but he shouldn't have lost that bad.

My co-worker Jason is still thinking Big Brown has the raw talent to contend very strongly. I wonder about Z Humor and Tale of Ekati, if they can be the upset in the Derby.

I am also curious to see if War Pass will show us he is not done yet and pursue the triple crown.

I believe he is improving. A real good handicapper, my mother, likes Colonel John. She says the way he rated off the pace and his closing 1/8 of the mile makes him a strong Derby Contender. Her years of experience of watching horses from Cumberland, Maryland to Pimlco to expertly picking triple crown winners makes me very wary of Colonel John.
