I had some rough things to say about the TV coverage of the Breeders Cup meeting, because it contained everything that most irritates me about America, but you've shown me that there is still a foundation of genuineness and never-say-die enthusiasm there under all the hype and shouting. And the risks some people take to follow their dream.

In case you wondered, I'm writing from South Africa, where we have had a great year for a small horseracing country, starting with several exciting Dubai successes and ending with a nearly 50% rise in sale prices at the latest couple of sales. But we've had our hard times too, so I can feel for you all, at least after Adam's gentle reminder of the precarious existence of so many.

Who was it said "No-one ever commits suicide with a bunch of unraced 2-year-olds in his yard!"? That's about right, I reckon, and Hope is the one thing that can see round corners. Believe me, the hard miles will go by, so like good horses, dig deep and hold on!

It especially springs in my coming-two that was rejected by her momma and had to be bucket raised. Her two-legged momma, me of course, will be tacking her up tomorrow and going for a spin around the arena. Big, big dreams for that little girl!

Things aren't good in the great white north either. We had computer melt down a few weeks ago and got some money scraped together to get some new(used) stuff. So you know what, I'm thankful we had a little extra cash to get things up and running cause man I missed everyone on these sites. Christmas came early for us this year!

If you have a horse or can get to one just give them a big hug it does make you feel a whole lot better.Peace and Love.
