Your thought is duly noted, and for one or two races next season, I'll keep that in mind. But my post was more a response to the "will win every race he's entered in next year" comment. I agree, the in the money finishes in the '09 Triple Crown series provides the backbone of a solid betting angle...for a race or two. That's probably how many races you'd get a fair price on MTB. After that, sentiment would reign supreme, and he'd be overbet. That's when I'd go looking for the horse(s) to beat him. As for going undefeated in '10...preposterous!

One thing for everyone to keep in mind about MTB. He is the only horse to finish in the money in all three legs of the Triple Crown this year.

That is a nice betting angle.

for all who ask the flavor of headwear I prefer, I ask: what species of crow you desire? while you guys may be "laughing out loud", I'm quietly questioning your betting sense. but then again, if you're not placing bets, I'd love MTB too. the question isn't one of respect for the animal or his accomplishments, but more a question of respect for my betting dollar. unless of course, he's an absolute overlay...

da3hoss - I agree with you about horse racing fans dissing MTB. It took John Henry several years to reach his peek - thanks to Ron McAnally and his staff. Sam Rubin, Ron, and his staff laughed all the way to the bank once JH got his "groove".

I hope to see MTB succeed and I will be watching his career. Best of luck to Chip and his staff!

Brian: How funny! When I've gone back and watched replays of Rachel's races, I love that her mane is braided and I am bothered by her races before the Preakness when it was not! I come from a show horse background and no matter if it is a small local show or a big championship, always braid! :)

Thank you, Adam, for putting up the Rachel wallpaper! I have enjoyed the Zenyatta picture but my heart lies with the lovely Rachel. The fans have definitely come out winners this year with both great horses to watch and cheer. I really hope this will help draw people back to horse racing. It's a thrilling sport.

While I don't think MTB is in Zenyatta or Rachel's league, I do give him a lot of credit. He gets picked on alot (my husband for one!) but I think he's got a lot of heart. He shows up and he keeps trying. The looks of utter dismay on the faces of the elite when he won the Derby was priceless!

What's wrong with Rachel's hair being braided? I love it that way. She looks like a girl!

I have to chuckle at the Zenyatta photo--she looks like she has more than the alloted number of legs. Like something you'd see on Animal Planet's Weird True and Freaky! Couldn't be helped and of course Photo Shop was not an option. Gotta keep it real.

I will not knock MTB he is a Kentucky Derby Winner. But!! 4 of his 5 wins are on what the Jess Jackson followers call PLASTIC. His Th win is in the SLOP in the Derby. He is yet to win on a FAST DIRT TRACK. If he was my horse I would be pointing him to the BC Dirt Mile not the Classic. I don't believe he wants much more than that against Top Co.

The self styled "experts" will never forgive Mine That Bird, will they.

He not only made them look stupid by winning the Kentucky Derby, but was the only horse to show up in the money in all three Triple Crown races and the only American dirt horse capable of taking it to Rachel Alexandra.

MTB will race for a while, I think Chip loves the horse and wants to see him succeed.

LACS70, I was ignoring his MTB diss, but MTB will come back next year and if they pick his spots right, he should give us many good years and races in the venue of our venerable old favorites like With Anticipation, Evening Attire, Better Talk Now and The Tinman!

He's already a Classic ahead of them all and has done FAR more than John Henry at this point in his career. In fact I always chuckle when I think how most bloggers would destroy JH at this point in his career!!!

yes, Zenyatta's win was huge. Too bad the "powers that be" are disinclined to even allow Eclipse voters an option to vote for a co-HOY award. Apparently they don't

understand that both horses deserve it and have done wonders for racing.
