Glad you gave recognition to DeShawn Parker. I don't believe where he rides diminishes his fantastic accomplishments. My mother always said "stick to your knitting." He has become familiar to the horsemen there and they know they are going to get a talented jock giving a great ride on their horse every time. He knows every inch of that track and seems to sense any slight bias change before the others.

He is a great success story and I hope the national media catches on. Did notice the Blood-Horse gave him some nice press.

Any information on Rachel Alexandra and when she will be bred to Curlin? If I recall someone from Blood-Horse was going out to visit and take some photos for an update sometime soon. Last I heard was see was being bred to Curlin but that was many months ago.

Wow, i have counted at least seven outright insults and negative comments directed at Zenyatta fans (three from jason...go figure????) and so far no real negative statements from any Zen fan directed towards Blame fans....Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMM???? The votes were cast, awards were given, lets move on, shall we??????? Will the industry pay any attention to tracks that are actually making a profit and try to replicate that success everywhere?????? That should be a good debate. JMO

I was not slamming you. Jason maybe yes. You are both great writers. I guess it is something you both are just having fun with. Maybe you two can take turns hosting with a couple of real handicappers on the show. That would benefit the viewers much more. At least we get free PPs for the race.

I always enjoy watching THS. I missed the last couple. Sometimes I mean to watch the vid and then end up putting it off due to business. All of a sudden the race has run and there's no point going back. Giving Jason a hard time is fun, especially when he asks for it. Sports team rivalry creates hotly contested debate and the gloves are off sometimes. I need to say that I appreciate the forum for comments and that I respect you and I usually respect Jason.

Not sucking up.

I agree with your comment about negativity. For some reason all the blogs have a few who like to start fights. I guess they get a kick out of it. It is a shame, too, because all of us who are here are obviously fans of the sport and have that in common. It would be nice if we could have a friendly place to discuss this great sport and possibly make some frieds. I don't comment as often as I would like and have a couple of friends who don't bother because of the hatefulness.

I feel bad for Blame's connections for any hate mail they may have received but I think the negativity on the blogs is what drove it to that.

Observation from the author: From the top down (racing executives, horsemen, fans, etc.) there is a lot of negativity, sourness, and meanness in this industry. A colleague of mine says the racing industry is a dumping ground for mediocrity and sourness. I'm starting to believe him. ... Does anyone out there know how to have fun and appreciate horse racing for the great sport it is? No wonder it suffers.

He noted we both picked Justin Phillip in the Lecomte, and he finished last in a five-horse field. ... All true. Not a good start for me, in particular, this year. But cut us a break. We make our selections two days in advance. Also, we try to have some fun with it. ... Shame I couldn't give out the $24 MSW winner at Turfway Saturday, but that's how it goes. The shocker of the US HOY voting was only 5 votes for Goldikova who ran against much tougher company than Z or B. It's too bad the US Turf writers have such a negative feeling for turf horses.

By the way, rename the Eclipse Award for HOY as US HOY in a manner similar to what Europe does as does Canada. Keep in mind that Goldikova was the European HOY and there is no worldwide HOY.

What are we going to do when Goldikova wins #4 this fall in the BC turf?

For those who are knocking the tone the "anti-Zen" people (I don't know any, LOL) take, let me point out that not all Zenyatta fans are admirable. The hate mail that came in to Claiborne farm was deplorable. 'Nuff said. We can all love Zenyatta---and admire Blame too. It's a fabulous year when we have horses like that to watch.
