What an amazing story. Inspirational and heartwarming. Having just read that Banned was euthanized, this really helps take away the sorrow. I know Banned's family did their best under horrific circumstances, it's still good to know that some can be saved and race again.

That's terrific -- even just that he was saved from that terrible injury, let alone that he's had such a great record since then. Maybe not Personal Ensign or Black Caviar, but what a trooper! Thanks for letting us know about him.

God bless you, Walter McShane. That you saw beyond the immediate medical expenses to bring this animal back to life deserves respect and applause. The industry has been come far too disposable with it's product, the horse, far too tempted by the lure of insurance, far too ready to give up on the suffering animal and move on to the next one- particularly a gelding with no potential for off track earnings. Sir, you are a wonderful exception to that rule. Best of luck to you and Geejayhaitch.
