Other than California Chrome, who's primary owners live just about 40 minutes from me, my favorite ownership group is Wounded Warrior Stables (currently racing Uncle Sigh, St. Liams Halo, Tapulous, and others) group. Being the sister in law of a combat marine who has so far served 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I deeply appreciate the fact that this stable donates a portion of all their horses earnings to the Wounded Warrior Project as well as to a few other organizations that focus around the military and their families. It is SUCH a generous thing and such a worthy cause they are racing for, I just admire them for it, and admire all the connections.

I think Cash Is King deserve a big mention, thanks not only to the horse they campaigned, the ever courageous Afleet Alex. But also, what Afleet Alex did for the charity, Alex's Lemonade Stand. The perfect storm of feel good, and run good!

California Chrome's connections are my favorite as well.

This story about the Shakettes and their love for Shackelford is so inspiring. God bless them! I hope filly Unshackled has a safe, successful career on the track.

Mine would have to be a neck and neck race with California Chrome and Zenyatta. I loved reading Zenyatta's blog and appreciate that the Moss's still maintain the website and keep us informed. The connections of California Chrome are so real, it makes you think anyone may have the opportunity to own a top class horse!

I'm a fan of the collection of Dogwood Stable horses, especially Palace Malice. Partnership founder, Cot Campbell, graduated from the University of the South, so has connections to "The Mountain", as we say, in Sewanee. Dogwood Stables has worked with numerous farms to place retired colts, with stud career potential, in regional markets at reasonable fees.

Secretariat will Always be my favorite All Time Thoroughbred !! I admire Penny & Ron for what they have done for Racing & continue to do so.

California Chrome is my favorite Thoroughbred that is still currently racing. Other than that, I LOVE Shackleford & Curlin, my favorite retired Thoroughbreds :)

Well with everything going on this year in the Triple Crown, California Chrome would have to be my pick but prior to the past 4 months my pick would have been Zenyatta's connections.

I absolutely LOVE this story and this group of people!!! I'm a huge Shackleford fan. I only wish I had a Facebook page so I could have met these mutual fans a long time ago.....I definitely would've been part of the club and partnership. I haven't been to the website yet but can't wait to check it out. Does anyone know how much the shares cost and how many are left? Is that info available on the website? Thanks for doing this story Esther!!

Barbara Banke/Stonestreet Farms! I totally love Rachel Alexandra and had the pleasure of meeting some of the Shackettes when Stonestreet opened their hearts and doors allowing us to not only see but love Rachel up close and personal!

My Favorite will ALWAYS be : Secretariat, since I was 15 years old in 1973. Plus He was my first racehorse, that I adored. My parents split up in Feb. 1973 & Penny was a Strong Woman who I still admire to this day. Ron Turcotte rode at Hialeah during the winter months, which was my home track, so he is my favorite jockey. Need I say more ?

I also LOVE California Chrome because he & his connections remind me of the Secretariat Good Ole' Days :)

I loved the partnership that raced Funny Cide! They had so much fun racing Funny and seemed like such nice and approachable folks! I have visted Funny numerous times at the Kentucky Horse Park. I love it that the Schackettes group is following up on their love for Shackleford with producing a filly by Shack! Would love to buy a share and join the group!

Mine is "Taxi" or Magna Fortuna, recently retired and not a mainstream horse but to be born from a mare rescued from a kill-pen to a winner on the track. I don't think it gets much better.

Another is Notinrwildestdremz, the only horse to run on a track from the Paragallo farm raided in 2009 where some 200 horses were found neglected.

These horses(and owners)exemplify the spirt of the thoroughbred to me.

My favorite Thoroughbred would selfishly be mine...Valley of Death! He was given to me by his connections (owner and breeder) Dr. Daniel Stearns DVM not long before he passed. He was my vet for all my animals most of my life and a wonderful man.

I know, it sounds like a broken record, but I love the California Chrome partnership too. They clearly love their horse and were not afraid to dream big from the day he was born.
