Thank you on the compliment towards my blog, and on my fictional stories. I'd almost bet the minor issues ar grammatical errors. I try to remember what i can, but my memory has it's limits. I handle this blog as positively as i can, for as long as i can, but like everyone, i have small little ticks. I'm not anger management bad, but being hot tempered, a negative person in gerneral, and very high strung, does not always help. If you actually did know me when i was younger, you would actually say i've come quite a long way, lol. I actually was that kid who, thanks to being outcast by most of the others, wanted nothing to do with them. I always had opinions, but never shared them. Guess I'm making up for lost time.

I have PLENTY of experiences to go from. I've almost gotten killed quite a few times, once because my horse ditched me in front of a jump, and there was another horse right behind me, meaning i almost got trampled. My own horse almost trampled me when he reared up over me as i was lying on the groud. That kick in the head, had i not jumped back she would've come down right on top of me. Do i have experiences w/ppl, plenty. I just don't wish to share them on the internet, and expose myself that much. You and Tim G have never met me or talked to me over anything but this blog. I have others from this blog, that i FB with and they have said i do happen to know what i'm talking about. I insulted nobody, go back and show me where i said somebody was lacking in knowledge. I never say outright anymore, that a person is such and such, because i don't personally know them. You and Time G talk down to ME, and honestly if you don't want me to read to much into your responses, then explain them and leave no room for misinterpretation, these spats won't occure. I'm not good at this myself, but i do try. In his one lined comment Tim could've said why not to tell a barrel racer that instead of just saying it. Again, i still have others who defend me on this. You ASSUME i have no experience, yet you've never met me. Is it impossible that i could have the natrual ability and some experience that backs up what are normally pretty decent knowledgeble comments? Tim Brought my blog up, have any of you even read it? This isn't stuff i steal from writers i think it up when i see something or think of it. If you want to see a calmer more collected version of this, go over to that and just read it. I could care less if you commented, just read it. Even then nobody can judge anybody until you've actually met them.

You are WAY too sensitive as to what you presume is being said to you. Read way too much into it. Not sure what your issue is for sure.

When you comment on a blog comment section? You open yourself up to responses from anyone and everyone.

You seemed to think he clarified it to you, then got fired up again when you thought someone was backing you. Seemed more like that guy was stoking the fire to make his OTHER points because he was upset that Tim challenged his insulting a horse and others backed Tim. Someone you will NEVER read disrespecting an animal.

I'm not trying to be your father, just a friendly voice close to your age.

I can guarantee you that neither YOU nor I know as much as these guys who have been involved in the sport of racing and/or rodeo for 50 or so years, own race horses. It just isn't the case. I would no more argue with the guys who have told me things than I'd try to fly. Guys who are in the HOF, guys who have had major stakes winners. I don't care how much you know, or even what I know for that matter, an 18-20 year old CANNOT presume to know more than these guys. Especially those who have never truly been involved in the games they TRY to speak of. If you do? You miss out on a heck of a lot of good information, because they've seen it and actually DONE it.

There's a HUGE difference between READING about stuff and actually DOING IT. Sure there's been a few who have agreed with you but as many or more who don't like your delivery.

Face it, you really don't have any life experience regarding racing TO bring up. An incidental here and there? Reiterating what you read and then sticking an opinion on it?

Also YOU were the one who threw the insults out there. Lecturing him. Still he tried to explain to YOU, civilly. Then you threw out the insults. You may think it makes you tough or cool to anonymously insult people who have done things you cannot even imagine at this point in your life but it comes off as disrespectful and sad.

I wasn't going to mention it but actually you DO bring up your life experience ALL the TIME. Most of it has NOTHING to do with this blog, racing or making a point about similarities. Read back, teachers, kids picking on you etc. We all read it. The life experiences most talk on here about, like steve from St Louis, Tim G, dreamersmom etc are directly or even somewhat related to the subject of these blogs.

I've heard people say similar to what Tim said when just talking off the top of their head. Like when you think you come close to winning a race and someone says 'tell that to the winner'. It doesn't really mean as much as you made it out to be. I think you took it the wrong way, maybe intentionally. But do whatever you want. Just comes off as petulant and high schoolish.

For one, Thank you for the birthday. I'm going to try and be nice in this. I am not THAT in the know on western circuts. In english shows you have classes, divisions, medal finals and classics. A class is part of a particular division, and a division is normally three or four classes long. The person with the best results out of all the classes is named champion of the division. At the end of the year the person with the most points is the end of the year division champion. Medal Finals, are the end of the year finals for the two medal classes of my circut Novice and Junior. You have one try, one course, to get it right, if you in the top ten you are a medal finalist. The Classics are Pony Classic and Horse Classic, which is just about the same as the Medals, only based on hunter criteria. Each year i've been in these two i've been a finalist. My first year i was tenth, my second fifth in the medal finals, which is based on equitation. I was seventh both my year in the Classic. I would've been better but my horse stumbled about two strides before the jump. Amazing thing is she was athetic enough to recover and still jump it. I can see your point on trainers coming from western, but honestly, IMO they are still to different to compare. The breaking of a horse, and general manners undersaddle and on the ground may be taught the same, but otherwise i see no similarites. I do think that being well rounded in all areas gives you an edge, so that you can reach back and pull something from what an old trainer did, or something similar. Do i go the track very often, no, but I used to have a job working on a racing farm, until the strain of the work took to much of a toll on my body. I watched the trainer over there, while i was there, he did use a western saddle to start, so that when they reached the track the little racing saddle would feel like nothing to them. I've been around horses since i was eight, and started to get into racing a couple years later. Each year i learn and grow, i've done some western, dressage, jumpers, along with my hunter and eq. I've trained my own neglegted thoroughbred from sctatch, since the first almost ruined him. I've delt with all kinds of horses, and before i took a break, was one of the best riders on my circut. The reason i stopped was actually because of all the life experieces. If i ever have kids, there is no way i'm letting them go through what some of those ppl put me through. I've seen the good part of the industry, and bad, including getting struck in the head. I've had plenty of chances to get out, but haven't, why, because like all of the rest of you i LOVE this, and would be around it 24/7 if i could. Many of you get insulted when i post on here because i'm opinionated, stubborn and hot headed, but tell me. Wouldn't you get the same way if someone told you that you were wrong, don't know because you have no real life experiences, when all you do is live and breath horses. That's what i get, and that is why i get so upset, because i am so passionate about horses.

You insulted Ruffian, claiming to be connected. Yet never stated WHAT your connection really is other than your grandfather 'knowing' people.

You obviously don't own or train horses yet contradict those who do and those who have actually been IN the game for probably longer than you've been alive.

You talk about an event that at the most, you're on the periphery of and dispute the knowledge of people who are some of the greatest barrel racers in the world. Ever been to one of their clinics?

Are any of you even AWARE of the close connection between rodeo and horse racing and the people IN the game? Check around, you'll see that a lot of them grew up in both games and some of the guys will even admit to barrel racing when they were little kids. Lance Robinson, Casey Lambert, Joel Marr,

Chip Wooley, Carl Nafzger, Wayne Lukas and so on.

If you really are VIC and not Victoria, your options for the other sport are relatively limited. BR futurity/Derby trainer, divisional barrel racing, AQHA and IGRA would be about the extent of it. Nowhere NEAR the connection that SOME of us have to it.

I have a little question for you TACK experts. What is the trick that almost EVERY barrel racer uses and one of only a couple rules which AJQHA inforces? Another question for you barrel racing afficianados, what's the difference between divisional and traditional?

You know anyone can research all these facts that get 'reported' on here, but the proof is in the pudding. How many of you just state second hand facts all the time and have never even been up close and personal like some that you've tried to tell how it REALLY is?

I know LDP got to go to the track for her Birthday and that was great for her, Happy belated by the way. But do any/either of you go to the track, at the very least every weekend, all summer long, go to sales or get on the backside whenever you want, know personally some of THE biggest names in the game NOW and from the past? If you can/do then I'd find your points a little more valid.

re: The Fantasy Breeders' Cup Distaff?

Shawn P,

A one lined comment did not set me off, it merely made a small spark, which over this whole thing has evolved. As i have said i have a couple of ppl who think i'm just fine on these blogs, maybe you all are thin skinned, or something. I never got defensive, Tim, did confuse me with that comment at first, but i'm not the one who brings up my life experiences, blog, family, or anything into some of these spats. I'm going off of my knowledge, which i've been told by several adults before, is very good. Tim G, come on comparing two completly different sports, and expects me not to have a different opinion, then gets mad when i question his? This is a blog, which is open to all opinions. I will admit when i start something, but this i did not. To you i will get defensive, because until you decide to be my father, don't dare, tell me what to do. I don't come on here and tell you all to take it down a notch or ten. I'm blunt and tell you when i think you have an atitude problem, but i never tell anybody to tone it down. You all want to speak down to me, think again, because i won't take it. You wonder why i get defensive that is why. As i said to Tim G, if you don't want me to comment at you don't comment to me with some snide response like try telling that to a barrel racer, when i never even address you.

Yes, Ribot was to me, the most accomplished top-class competiton horse of all-time who retired undefeated. I know Kinscem was a wonder herself, but I question not only her competition, but her race record as well. I have seen and heard it a few times over the past few years where people dug deeper into looking to her race career and it seems that there may have been more than one horse running under her name and actually partaking in her races so I question her record at times, but nothing is proven or disproven so you can't take that away from her. Ribot, to me, the greatest european of all-time. I also believe had Nijinsky II not been pushed on so much at the end of his three year old year and had just taken some time off he would have retired undefeated but a triple crown and two extremely short defeats two older horses one being in the arc after his triple crown sweep is nothing to take him down on, he should have been rested properly and made his try at the Arc in his 4 year old season, it is quite dis hearting that they retired him at 3 when he could have been even more amazing a 4.

Also, yes these blogs are quite "mean" lol but I don't mind it I'm always up for proving my point with people.

Draynay questions his greatness because he lost. Rachel's greatness has been questioned also because of losses in her 2 year old year. That means nothing because some horses develop slower especially when they are big like she is. Zenyatta didn't race as a 2 year old and I'm sure it was because of her size. She only raced once as a 3 year old so she hit the track being much more mature. Not taking anything away from her, she is undefeated but would she have been at 2? We will never know. She is a great mare and has an unblemished record and she has secured her place in history no matter what. There are so many great horses and there will always be detractors because maybe they liked someone else better. They will always find a reason to justify their opinion but who cares? Doesn't matter. It's just an opinion and doesn't belittle Ruffian's greatness. She is just Ruffian and there will never be another.

Far as I can see this blog didn't head South because of that comment,THAT is egotistical.

Didn't really see it turn nasty between you two until you got defensive, like you always do.

As one young person to another? You need to ratchet it down about 10 notches. Also, if you're trying to drum up readers for your blog and give it any credibility with the racing community or fans? If you aspire to be a writer or involved in the industry? Discretion Dani, the most invaluable thing along with humility and not thinking that you know it all at our age. If you knew the connections you've insulted and taken to task on here? Not a good thing.

The people telling Tim the 'facts', might want to take note of that as well. A Collegiate champion, Little Brithches Champion JRA champion and go round winner in the WNFR would probably disagree with your assessment and the people who have 'agreed' with you on here as well. Just sayin.

I'm not the one who started this you and your little one lined comment did. If you don't want to be "taken to task" as you called it, don't comment to me, simple as that. Also, where did MY blog come into this? Where did i ever say i was an expert, in fact if you go way back, as you claim to do you will find that i've stated MANY times that i am NOT an expert or anything similar to that. I also never said you can stop a horse strictly on legs, but a good rider can stop a horse by seat and legs alone, look at dressage, that sport is mainly leg and seat control. Have you gotten so desperate to find fault with me that you must make things up out of thin air or go WAY back as you put it to find something? I'm not being the stubborn one, you have not only me but another person telling you, that your facts aren't right. Also if you think i'm rude go ask some other bloggers. ABZ, doesn't think i'm rude, neither does Mike Relva. Also just because i'm young, how do you know what experience i have and haven't had? You don't cause honestly i'd don't normally go around bragging about family or connections, my last couple of posts were a rarity. Also what do you mean by usual? This is the second time i believe i've ever gotten into a dispute with you. I believe i started that one, but this one all credit goes to you.

I only speak of that which I know. If I don't know, I keep quiet.

Have you ever seen a barrel racer ride in a sport saddle? Turning the pattern, yes that's an art in and of itself. However when a horse is running flat out? Fact is the greatest barrel racer of all time says if you want to stop one don't use a gag, snaffle etc true enough. However they run freer and turn better with those bits and they ARE exactly the SAME bits used in racing.

You are classifying EVERY western event and anyone who rides in a western style saddle in the same category. If what you say is true then explain HOW Charmayne got her horse stopped when the bridle fell completely off? Scamper turned because he was well trained. If you think you can stop a horse strictly with your legs????

My whole point about my 1 line comment was some horses won't stop or slow down and some will. The BIT is what you were speaking of.

Just because you write a blog on a site where ANYONE can write one, doesn't make you an expert.

I know we butted heads in the past, but I refuse to be taken to task by a teenager who has NO life experience.

You've done the same to any number of people including a trainer who has been training for almost 60 years (I read that one way back)

I guess as someone who HAS a close relative who is a pro barrel racer, grew up on a ranch, was an assistant RACE HORSE trainer, have owned hundreds of race horses and has been involved in racing for over 50 years will yield to YOUR vastly superior knowledge.

re: The Fantasy Breeders' Cup Distaff?

Tim G,

It got mean when your comments about comparing two totally different typers of riding got an extreme air of arrogance to them. A racehorse that has the heart to keep going will not pull up in 1-5 strides, especially when you have two going eye to eye. How do i know i own an ex-racer, and one day another girl wanted to go around the track at a slow canter, like that would happen, with her, also, ex-racer right next to mine. That did't work well, since within about six seconds he took off. The other girls horse almost did the same, and it took me holding that horse's head up like a dang giraff and making him weave back and forth across the track to slow him down. An exersise ride i know has also told me that the bits used on those racehorse are pretty much the equivalent to bailing twine. A man who was the coach for the DSU western riding team showed me how to tack up western, showed me all the different pieces of tack, including the bit. To you they may not be harsh, but they are Much harsher than any english bit. I just watch barrel racers this summer, and those bits did not look a darn thing like ANY english bit i've ever seen, which honestly is a lot. I've just about got a darn colletion of english bits in my tack trunk. Again the two sports, tack wise, riding wise, etc two WAY different things. You can't compare a jockey who weights 120lbs riding with nothing but his hands and whip to a western riders who sits much deeper in the saddle, wieghts more likely, can use their seat, legs, and hands to slow a horse down. You flat out can't. Race horses are also tacked up as lightly as possible, where as Wester tack is some of the heaviest i've EVER seen. So when you have really look at it there is no comparison, that is my one and only point, you can't compare, not with tack not with riding, they are too different, apples and oranges.

I had the Wester Trainer for DSU at the barn where i rode one time, I saw the bridles they used, i saw the bits girths tack and EVERYTHING they used. And i have tacked up a wester horse in Western tack, and rode that horse as well. Do you really want to go and argue with that. The man was the coach for DSU, for god sakes! Would you please just get off your high horse for once and admit your wrong, oh wait you can't cause your ego is the size of Asia, which is bigger even than Dray's.
