It's an outdoor event Shawn. Would people rather enjoy racing in warm weather or cold for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS? Use your head. Why do you think football has the SB indoors or in warm weather places.

Seems to me that your great NY racing cant draw fields of more than 5 or 6 every weekend. That's fun.

Im not fired up at all. Just seems as though you have something to complain about in every post. Why dont you try picking a horse for a change instead of telling us "outsiders" how the sport should be run.

If what you're saying is what you really believe then NO racing should be run outside of Cal and Florida?

Those two states have more issues than even we do and the future ain't looking good.

You 'could' be covering football in 16" of snow and gale force winds EVERY weekend.

Monmouth was a mistake from the getgo.

Thought you knew horses prefer the cold to the hot?

If the BC was held at the same venue, same state every year? It'd be struggling to sell tickets. Oh wait, it already is....

Guess the broke state of Cali can't deal with it and the 'beautiful' people/B listers/reality show people don't want to be seen at the same place twice in a row either?

The other thing that would be interesting is how many 'more' horses aren't going out there as compared to no shows in years past.

The BC is who came up with more races not the horsemen. But it's nice since more money to run at.

Lazmannick: Music Note is based in NY. Why didnt Zen come there? If RA ran in the Classic on dirt, yes I would pick her to win.

Steve S: The Ramsey horses at Retama will be 2-5 or worse. They wont sneak by anyone.

Shawn: No, Id rather have it at Monmouth or Belmont so it can be run on a quagmire every year in 10 degree weather. That's fun. The BC should be in warm weather places--Cali, Florida, Louisiana, etc. Just like like the Super Bowl. Those dreadful synthetics will have attracted a record number of Euros again. How terrible for the World Championships. Stop your whining.

baffert is realy a good trainer but he better watch out in the stretch he could be beat by other good horses like pulsion he ran a hell of a race with mike smith on his back he can close if he gets daylight and the right post post possion he was coming on strong against looking at lucky at the same track for the norfolk

Cloudy's Knight is doing his best John Henry impersonation! Nine and fine! 12 for 38 and usually at a square price, this guy has really rewarded his backers over the (many) years of racing! He's a two time G3 winner in as many starts, and, oh yeah, he's nine years old!

It's crazy,Billingsley was a bust in the 2nd half and Wolf was lights-out.Padilla pitched well,he was 7-0(2 play-off wins) in 10 games w/Dodgers.I don't think it was the pitching,their hitters didn't show-up vs. Phila..Now,w/all the Drama going on regarding the McCourts,I'm afraid they'll end up like the Padres did after their previous owner's issues.

Anyways---just read your article about Einstein,good job.He'll certainly be tough on that track.Col.John is more hype than anything,and is Rail Trip(my BCC pick) really out of the BC?...

Carlos: The ERA was deceiving. Most of those good numbers came in the first half when Billingsley was on fire. Without him, they are below average. I mean, Padilla and Wolf as starters? Please. They were Philly castaways 5 years ago.

Actually Jason,their pitching staff had the lowest combined era for both the starters & bullpen in the NL,possibly the whole league.The starters pitched good enough,bullpen choked & their bats were a no-show.Notice that Manny w/out Juice is just not the same...They'll be back next year,but it's starting to look like the Phils have their no# since the 80's. Dammit!! I'm not watching!!!

Carlos: That Dodgers starting staff could be one of the worst ever to start an NLCS. Brutal. Their ace all year didnt even break the top 4. Did u really expect them to shut down the Phils lineup?

Phils/Yanks series as I predicted. Should be a great one.

Leon - I don't think further taxing stud fees is plausible. Do you really think that if the

government got their hands on more tax money they'd properly manage it and give 25-30% back for purses? I don't, based on the way they've already royally screwed up with our tax codes and tax

dollars.

And like Shawn P said, Kentucky stud fees are already taxed. The buyers are subject to a 6% sales tax. The buyers can get some of that back in breeder incentives under certain conditions.

And stud owners are already taxed on the income they get from their stallions. As you can see, the taxes aren't helping keep horses on the track longer.

Leon, more tax?

Most states tax the fee, and although I'm not an expert on it, I believe it's considered 'income' on your Federal tax.

Although some states designate the sales tax back to breeder incentives, some don't.
