Today is Derby Day and I am missing her singing and sharing a Mint Julep, she passed away March 2010. It was interesting to learn so much about my Great Uncle. Thank you

Thank you for sharing your great story. I had the opportunity to meet Warner Jones when I was 10. Well, it has been nearly 27 years ago and I will never forget the experience. My father was a horse owner and one weekend at Churchill Downs he pointed out Mr. Jones and told me he was Chairman of the Board and owned a large horse farm in Goshen. On that day, our seats were located close to Mr. Jones' reserved box. I decided to introduce myself. I walked down to his box, told him my name, and said I would like to visit his farm one day. He shook my hand and followed me to my seat and introduced himself to my dad. He wrote down my name and address. I received a packet in the mail with information regarding Hermitage Farm and a personal handwritten note inviting me to take a tour of his farm. I accepted his offer and I had my picture taken with My Charmer. Another time he saw me with my dad at Churchill and told me to come with him. He had a horse in that race and he wanted me to watch it with him and Mrs. Jones. Of course, the horse won and he took me to the winners circle for the picture. He had me stand in front of him and he put his hand on my shoulder. He mailed me a copy of that picture and I framed it. I still have it today. I must also note that Mrs. Jones was the epitome of class. She was always nice and friendly. I will always be a racing fan and racing needs more people like Warner Jones.
