I won 13 races with 22 2nd in 77. He didn't say a lot to me other than, look him over good, Jas. At the end of the meet, he asked me if I'd share my stakes with the rest of the barn. I reached into my pocket to check the thickness of the wad of betting money and said, how much did they earn? It was something like $220k. I said okay. Best days of my life! I wish I could find his AT, Jimmy Conner.

Buddy Raines helped me get my first job as a hot walker with Henry S Clark at Delaware Park in 1969. It was the real beginning of a life long love affair with Thoroughbreds. Mr. Clark had a mare that wasn't up to par and needed a home so I bought her for $300 and I've been rescuing/rehoming Thoroughbreds even since. At the time I had no idea Mr. Raines was a "somebody" or that Mr. Clark was....they were just good people who gave a young girl a chance. Thanks for the great memories!
