How cool to defy the forerunner at Saratoga to let his favorite Charlie go unbridled to escort Annihilate ‘em, winner of the 1973 Travers Stakes.

With a name like that, I would sure like to know what she looked like before she turned white (she was a grey).

And, Annihilate 'em looks like he can't wait to get a drag on that cigarette! Those were happy horses ... for that time period.

Fun story, Mr. Campbell.

As a young racing fan living in Buffalo, NY I couldn't wait for Doug's arrival at Fort Erie's 6 week summer meet. You could easily pick out his horses in the paddock with their colorful bridals and immaculately groomed coats. Doug loved the Fort Erie turf course stating in his huge opinion that it was the best turf course in North America. I actually became very good friends with one of his grooms and had an open invitation to his Doug's barn for the whole summer meet. Along with Annihilate'em my favorite Davis trained horse was a speedball named Hook It Up! Doug had a flair for coming up with some of the most creative names on the race track. Brown Creeper, Miss Suzaki and Mississippi Mama are three that come to mind. Mr. Campbell did a fantastic job highlighting one of racings most robust and well respected personalities. Well Done Cot!!
