I believe if your vote goes to Zenyatta, Well, I will give my answer as a "Police/Sting" montage...

"The spirits in the material world" would be "wrapped around your finger" if Zenyatta(Thank god they didn't name her, "Roxanne") were to receive your vote! She just "can't stand losing, you" must know that?, With "every breath you take", Please consider giving her your vote. She would be "walking on the moon" to have this honor! Since "Every thing she does is magic", How can she not win? She would be "so lonely" without having this award, "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da"...

John, with Zenyatta's win in the Classic-she probably beat three Eclipse Award winners (Gio Ponti, Summer Bird, and Rip Van Winkle, and perhaps a fourth-Einstein).

John, facts that you should consider in NOT voting for Rachel Alexander. She raced in only one non-restricted G1 race. She never beat the best G1 females and well as males.

The list includes HOF jockeys Mike Smith and Gary Stevens, soon to be HOY trainer Bob Baffert, the legendary past CEO of Santa Anita - whom has witnessed horseracing for over 70 years, the track announcer at Hollywood Park...

John, Eclipse Award winning journalist Joe Drape of the New York Times has said that Zenyatta is the deserving Horse of the Year and her Classic win is the Race of the Decade! This is from a guy from the NEW YORK TIMES, for heaven's sake!

I still bristle when someone brings up Zenyatta's 14 for 14 record.

I thought this award was given based on accomplishments in one calendar year. Am I wrong?

Tough choice though. I don't envy anyone who has to vote.

John, let me help you out. First of all, consider that the great Zenyatta is the People's Choice. She leads in every poll from the Daily Racing Form to Bloodhorse to Horseracinginsider to the Sporting News to CBSSports. She is also considered by editors of the nations newspapers to be the greatest female athletic of the year in 2009 other than a human.

My gosh, what a blessed year this has been for us horse racing fans. Two phenoms. Two classy camps. My vote is for Rachel...not because Zenyatta is any less deserving, but because she created history almost every time she ran.

I thought it was very well done, however I will send you a bottle of wine if you will vote for Zenyatta. Rachel has another year to prove herself. Zenyatta does not have another chance to win horse of the year. Who could deny Zenyatta with her dancing steps and the show she put on every time. Good luck with your decision. I will be Heartily disappointed if Rachel wins even though I to think her a brilliant filly.
