hard spun was an awesome racehorse, who never tryed to dodge any other horse. he had great wheels and loved to race... his kids will do the same..... Im sure that mr. Jones will have a few in his barn.

I am not a fan of the blocky Quarter horse type. We have Quarter horses for that. I enjoy this trend of rangy horses but we always have room for sires like Hard Spun. Who's to say we can't have two different body types in the market - stocky ND types and rangier, stouter ones?

I thought Hard Spun looked like a quarter horse. He was game and fast and seems to be stamping his get. If they look like him maybe they'll run like him too.

You guys, If you want to see some of Hard Spuns foals who are going to the Fasig Tipton Saratoga Select sale. FT now has an interactive catalog online where they have videos of the yearlings. They were all good looking horses that have their daddy's stamp on them, some right down to the star on their foreheads. The ones in particular I liked where number 24 and 134. The first being a filly out of Capote Blues. The second is a colt out of Pent, By Mr P who lookes like Sadlers Wells. Check out their tails! I also finally got a look at the colt by Lost in the Fog's dam Cloud Break. Strange coloring that I am sure will grey up in a couple of years. He looked more slighly built then the other Hard Spuns I saw, but had a nice walk. Time will tell. The Rock Hard Tens are very nice too.

Otherlyn...I have to say...one of the best looking horses, without a doubt...Rock Hard Ten. But what always amazed me, I thought Seattle Slew was a very big horse because he was always so puffed up and intimidating before and during his races...but his website states he was 16 hands....which to this day, I find difficult to accept. Does anyone have info on this?

I love this horse, I was behind him through his 2 and 3 yr old seasons with astonishment. His wins looked effortless.He has wonderful breeding and the heart he displayed on the track was amazing. I have seen some of his foals and they are very nice indivuals. I heard his first foal weighed in at 142 pounds. The one I have not seen and am particularly interested in is the Hard Spun-Cloud Break colt thats a half to Lost In The Fog. The breeding is very close to Foggy's. I expect great things from this colt.

Awhile back if I recall they were asking if you bred to a new stallion who would you send your mare too. Answer was Hard Spun so will be looking for his runners to do him proud. Biggest heart, gave you his all and ran all day and was sound, what more could you ask for to be passed on.

Yes Hard Spun does have great lines. Danzig yes great lines. Dont forget the War Admiral Man of War is there. . I like to see these horses running today with certain lines and the big heart. Like Secretariat. I believe they leave something of them selves even after alot of generations. pat

I can't wait for next year's freshman sire crop... Hard Spun, Invasor, Any Given Saturday, Street Sense, English Channel, etc. It will be so much fun to see this crop run as the '07 racing season was my first that I followed intensely!

I have long enjoyed seeing the immortal NORTHERN DANCER in his descendants. It's not only body type that he influences, but facial characteristics, even down to the high percentage of off-center blazes un-mistakenly point to him.

I predict that the ROCK HARD TEN's progeny will continue the great ND/DANZIG heritage. Not only speed, and beauty, but stamina and soundness are passed on in the line.

Hopefully, NORTHERN DANCER's branch of his sire line will counteract the fragile brittle bones that the modern TB has inherited from certain fatal NATIVE Dancer crosses. As 'Native' dilutes, 'Northern' seems to remain strong. This is encouraging.

'Retro types' just might be the salvation of the breed. Long live ROCK HARD TEN. Here's to wishing him great success, for the good of the breed. His name says it all. Yes?

If there was an Eclipse Award for Most Beautiful - it would've been Hard Spun...and his daddy wasn't have bad looking either. But not only was Hard Spun gorgeous, he was consistent, and that's saying a lot coming from a pretty good crop of 3 year olds. Can't wait to see the babies...

All the 'eyes' will be looking at every freshman sire and trying to find the 'cat' in the puzzle. Of course their eye's can't see how much 'heart' and 'class' they pass on until they have to look another horse in the eye when they enter the starting gate.

So for now, they'll all make predictions and choose the winner's and loser's before they every make it to the racetrack.
