Sheikh Mohammed for sure had a strong influence on how the sale wound up. Much more impressive to me though was the New York bred sale where the action on the sales grounds was fast paced from the get go. We showed as many horses on the friday before the sale as I could remember doing in the last 3 years. People were excited and almost desperate to buy a good New York bred. The good New York breds will be in high demand at Keeneland and the other remaining yearling sales. I think the rest of the market will have a hard time finding firm footing once you get past the select horses at Keeneland. Still too much turmoil in our ecomomy for the bullish buying in New York to be duplicated in the other open sales.

re: What Did New York Sales Tell Us About the Yearling Market

Nice analysis, Didi.
