I hope they don't change it. One of the few horses I can recall being successful after a name change was London Company back in the 1970s. He originally had a rather dumb name (anyone recall it?), and since he was a son of Tom Rolfe the new owners re-named him London Company. He did quite well on the grass in Florida.

He was produced from two former Horse Of Year under the policy of breeding the best to the best. Now this policy has been at best a miserable failure. None of the million dollar earners that have been bred to A.P. Indy have produced an outstanding horse. In addition to this, only one son of Mr. Prospector has sire a broodmare that has produced the winner of a Triple Crown race i.e., Carson City dam sire of Barbaro. No broodmare that has earned $1M have ever produced an exceptional horse much less the winner of a Triple Crown race. These high profile broodmares are always bred to Storm Cat or A.P. Indy strictly for commercial appeal and not because is a properly researched match. I have done some research and cannot find a champion that was produced from two HOY. The 2006, 2007 & 2008 HOY i.e., Invasor & Curlin were produced from unraced mares. My research uncovered an offspring produced from the mating of two Triple Crown Winners i.e., Secretariat and Chris Evert. The resulting horse was Six Crown dam of Multiple GI winners Chief's Crown and Classic Crown. Her race and earnings record is as follows (15 Starts: 5 - 3 - 5, $136,274)

Guys the prospect of Vallenzeri being a champion is as remote as Dunkirk winning the 2009 Kentucky Derby. They are both products of high profile matings. I would not spend that kind of money of this horse. In fact, I would look at him in the sales ring.
