MTB ran a credible race last Saturday and, if he had relaxed for Borel and not pulled him to the lead too early, he could have won it. However, he was rank down the backstretch and what happened was just what Jerry Bailey said could happen when he learned that MTB was too amped up, too keen, in the hours previous to the race: When MTB would not relax for Borel, the horse's closing kick was compromised to a certain degree, and he got beat by a closer though he put in a game performance. That's three fine outings in Grade 1 races in 5 week's time and not the stuff that comprises the make-up of a fluke. The jock seemed right about his confidence that MTB would win the Belmont. If he'd have relaxed for Calvin as he did in the Derby, Borel would have had his Triple.

I have to feel sorry for you! If you can only feel better by putting down someone else or an innocent horse, your self-esteem must really be nil - which it should be considering your unwillingness to take responsibility and give credit where credit is due. Only losers make your comments. The Derby is over and can't be rerun! Suck it up! Be a man!Or try! LOL! Your personal, stupid comment about blood clots - give me a break!
FLUKE, FLUKE, FLUKE!! Run the Derby again 100 times and MTB wouldn't win it again. That's what I call a fluke. Charitable Man and Dunkirk (on a fast track) will show the fluke what real talent can do.

Chris: Are you part of Mr. Jackson's legal team? If not, why would you be so negative in questioning his motives for keeping Curlin in training? If you are not aware - those very legal issues STILL are not resolved but Curlin is retired now.

So....I guess that had nothing to do with it.

Case in point: The Legendary John Henry! He didn't get "famous" until he got older. Google him some time! Nobody had to compare him to a mare or filly; he became horse of the decade. End of story.

Why do you all have to bring in RA for comparison?! R2R kicked butt with Curlin at Belmont... did Curlin get a "bad name" because of it? Heck no! Lighten up.

2. Just so Draynay can eat crow. This baffoon ticks off a lot of us with his enduring nonsense! Draynay, if MTB is a "fluke" for not winning the Belmont, was "your" BB a fluke too? I believe so!!! They both won the Derby - not much difference in the Preakness!!!

Now, let's enjoy a good race - except for the Baffoon!

And Draynay, watch out! You might end being called a "Fluke" yourself! Befitting I'd say!

What a thought. This year, the triple crown was about race horses, and not (near) future stallions that we can whisk to the breeding shed. Are we really witnessing horse racing this year, as compared to soon to be stallion showings we normally get? It has been very refreshing, and I look forward to watching Mine That Bird perform over a long career, and see the superfilly Rachel Alexandra run for a couple years. This is what horse racing is all about, and only a triple crown winner could've made this season more enjoyable.

I honestly believe the only reason Jess Jackson raced Curlin as a 4 year old is because there were too many legal issues at the end of his 3 year old campaign and the top stud farms didn't want to get tangle in that mess. Otherwise the 07 Classic would have been Curlin's final race.

As someone already stated Birdstone and Medaglia D'Oro profiles increased, but I think the breeding markets can last one year without a hot 3 year old TC winner entering the stud ranks.

We need more racetrack stars. We need people who go to the sales to buy racing prospects first and breeding prospects second. We need priorities to change, and this is a good year to show it. All we need is for the Belmont to be won by a horse with a less-than-desirable breeding pedigree, or Mine That Bird, and you're all set to have at least one Triple Crown race winner on the track for years to come.
