Although total number of horses sold was thin. I did see a handfull of horses that were profitable transactions.Not sure if this is good news or not.

Great question but my guess is that since this is our biggest foal crop to work through since the downturn it will be hard to be down that much on overall numbers. Money being tight for everyone it will be hard to just say well Im going to just keep them and race them since the market is bad. Very few people in that good of shape with their finances. My hope of hopes is that although this painful to go through for everyone that as the numbers shrink on overall foal crop size that the ecomomy will heat back up in next couple of years and supply and demand will be back in our favor.

Do you expect the number of yearlings offered at this years sales to be down in the 20% range or greater ?

Great info for everyone, we have seen a real drop in the number of pinhookers at the sell. Everyone I talk to is having trouble getting financing and has really slowed down their activity. A lot of people not shopping at all that bought a great deal in the past. Hopefully these guys can weather the storm because they sure are good for the yearling market and we need each and every one of them.
