Was sure he would run a big race in the Breeders Cup Classic. But when he had his jockey hurt in that bad spill and then from what I have read about the start of the Classic (which I was unable to see as NBC thought showing the back of the starting gate was the place to be instead of the front so one could see how well their choice broke)pretty much figured it was another bad luck race. I am happy that they are running him as a 4 year old as this colt will only get better and better. May the racing gods be with him in 2014 and the toughness of his daddy Curlin shine through.

I was at Keeneland when he ran in the Bluegrass Stakes. Even though he didn't win he ran a great race and earned enough points to run in the Derby. The following morning at the hotel i was staying in, I had the pleasure of talking to one of his owners. He mentioned he had a horse run the previous day in the bluegrass. When I asked who it was, he modestly mentioned it was Palace Malice. He was so excited about him earning enough points to run in the derby. He said he probably wouldn't sleep for 3 weeks.! I wished him luck in the upcoming weeks and was so thrilled to see him standing in the winners circle at Belmont!

Life as a 4 year old is a different world from that of a 3 year old. That being said, Palice Malice has much racing potential in front of him. With a little better luck next year, who knows? He could be on top of his game at this time in 12 months. Lots of love and a little patience goes a long way in the career of a thoroughbred. Here's to you, Palice Malice, may some of your papa's success rub off on you next year. Stay strong and don't loose heart.
