California Chromes' misty morning gallop is a mystical shot . My very favorite at the track that leaves a caress upon you as these brilliant beast take control of the track and you take the ride with them.... both "'morni g mist" shots are full of freshness as they gallop in to a new morning. Beautiful shots and touched with sensitivity .

Social Inclusion could be a threat to California Chrome but I have made my final decision on my betting strategy.

My exacta will both of them as above-mentioned.

By the way, whatever happened to Ramon Dominguez? He won many, many races in Maryland. Would like to know how he is doing and what he is doing these days. I really miss watching him race.

On April 18, less than a month before he won the Preakness, Charismatic was eligible for "n/w of a race other than claiming." He made a start on his conditions that day in the Lexington and won the Derby, elevating his status to "n/w of 3 other than."

A truly run Belmont rewards virtues which US racing secretaries have not even thought about when writing races for 2-yos. (Would you believe, some countries card juvenile maidens at 10 f and beyond?) It's not hard to imagine a Belmont-type horse, reserved while sprinters and milers reign and managed carefully, going into the race with some graded, even classic, placings, sitting on the race of his life, but without that first stakes win. Harder to see that scenario with the Preakness.

For those picking Social Inclusion, does anyone know how many horses got their first career stakes win in the Preakness? It's happened a number of times recently in the Belmont, primarily due to it often being a strangely run race due to jockey unfamiliarity with 12f dirt racing. However, it seems that the Preakness is generally won by horses with stakes wins in their past.

I certainly don't recommend running any horse who isn't sound. However, if California Chrome is a little under the weather, a wee bit less than 100%, he can join the ranks of the great ones from yesteryear who ran many races just like that, and still won. I have a feeling this might be a close one. Hoping for the best outcome for one and all.

Venetian Way seemed to always have his tongue flying in the wind. I have several press photos of him, one hitting the derby wire, all showing that tongue hanging out. Venetian Way was such a beauty, how he managed to wag that tongue and ruin his photos is hilarious.

Great Photos! Thank you Steve. I think California Chrome needs to keep an eye on Kid Cruz (home territory..and he's really, really fast.) and Dynamic Impact.(He'll duel to the wire.) These are the 2 who left an impression on me in their last races. KC in the Tesio, and DI in the Illinois Derby. Social Inclusion, as great as he looks, gave up his duel as Samraat passed him in the Wood.

Fantastic photos and comments. I think that Social Inclusion and California Chrome are most likely the top talents in the division. We may just see a duel, mano a mano, knock down dragout barroom brawl between the two, ala Affirmed and Alydar and Curlin and Rags to Riches.
