About Maiden Watch
This blog is devoted to those Thoroughbreds that have yet to reach the Winner’s Circle, the Maidens.
This year, we will be focusing on the 2-year old offspring of first-crop sires Afleet Alex, Ghostzapper, Kitten's Joy, Rock Hard Ten, and Saint Liam. This list was determined by a reader vote. We will follow their offspring from their first workouts to their first time on the track to the Winner’s Circle. However, although progeny by the stallions will be emphasized, all horses in a given race will be examined in detail, especially those by other first-year stallions. I would also encourage readers to comment on any and all impressive Maidens that they observe, regardless of pedigree.
In 2008, we concentrated on the offspring of Birdstone, Congaree, Medaglia d'Oro, Peace Rules, Pleasantly Perfect, Saarland, Smarty Jones, and Speightstown.
