Today is State-bred day at Maiden Watch, as we will look at a New York-bred race at Aqueduct, a Florida-bred race at Gulfstream, and a California-bred race at Santa Anita. This is a good lesson in relativity, especially when looking at auction results. A sale price of $20,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale is not usually worthy of note, but the same price at a regional sale might be. It may be necessary to look at the averages for a sale in addition to raw numbers.
