A Provocative Reappearance for Saintsgomarchingin? Fair Grounds Race 7, March 13, 2008

Fair Grounds Race 7
Maiden Special Weight
1 Mile
3-Year Old Fillies
Post Time: 4:36 PM; HRTV

First-time starters: Acoma (Empire Maker – Aurora by Danzig) and Provocative (Unbridled’s Song – Wanda’s Dream by Miswaki).

Provocative sold for $260,000 as a yearling at Keeneland.  Her dam won $85,102 and has produced 3 winners including Womble who finished 3rd in the Calder Derby and earned $154,442.

Acoma did not sell at auction, but her dam earned $285,236 and won or placed in 3 stakes including a 2nd place finish in the Beaugay Handicap (gr. II). Acoma is half-sister to 4 winners including Festival of Light who won the Godolphin Mile and earned $632,291.  Another half-sibling, Alisios, earned $265,432 in a stakes winning career.

Among those who have raced, the top-seller was Yes Im Woman (Yes It’s True – Tigress Woman by Woodman) who sold for $100,000 as a weanling and $185,000 as a yearling. Her dam, Tigress Woman, has produced three winners.

Peaceful Gal (Aptitude – Ataentsic by Holy Your Peace) is out of stakes winning mare who earned $188,142.  She has produced 6 winners including Bick (earnings of $369,580), Unbridled Energy ($282,862, including the San Fernando Breeders' Cup (gr. II)), and No Armistice ($211,200).

The dam of Sunflower Drive (Paynes Bay – Palmetto Bay by Broad Brush) earned $41,860 and has produced 4 winners from 5 to race.  Included in these winners are Turtle Drive who won $221,361 and Cherry Grove whose $184,309 include a 3rd in the Eternal Search Stakes.

Wallingford (Cat Thief – Scoop by Gone West) is out of a stakes-winning dam who earned $337,170.  She has produced one winner, the stakes winner Coolwind who has earned $273,926 through 2008. Coolwind most recently finished 4th in the Chou Croute Handicap on February 16, 2008.

Reappearance (Kafwain – Proud Encore by Tri Jet) is a half-sibling to 7 winners including Mr. Impatience who won the Lamplighter Handicap (gr. III) and $118,990.

Of course, the hunch bet of this race is Saintsgomarchingin (Include – Saint Ballad by Saint Ballado).  This horse would seem to be a sure thing in New Orleans.  Saintsgomarchingin sold for $40,000 as a yearling and $80,000 as a 2-year old.  She is the first foal out of the unraced mare, Saint Ballad.

Really nice job with this blog!  Is there someone I can contact about swapping links with my new site: starsoftheturf.blogspot.com , which is actually a combination of a blog and a fantasy horse racing game where each person will create a stable of 30 unraced two year olds and score points based on their performance in races.
