Saintsgomarchingin tried hard, but she couldn't hold off Storm Mesa. Still, this hunch-play was on the bottom of a nice exacta ($108.80). First-timer Acoma was off a little slowly and lingered at the back, before making a nice run in the stretch. A number of the Empire Makers seem to be slow starters and this one should definitely improve next time. The other debut runner, Provocative, raced wide and finished last. Provocative was part of the favored entry, but the public may have been betting her stablemate, Yes Im Woman, who finished 4th. Reappearance was scratched.
