Floating On Air did something that none of our other horses have, she showed speed and actually took the lead out of the gate.

I have to admit that Precious Beans is one my favorite names among the Medaglia d'Oros. But, a good name only gets you so far, now it's time to see what he can do on the track.

Mr Mistoffelees made his $1.5 million sale price look like a bargain, drawing off to win by 9 1/4 lengths. 9 1/4 lengths in a 4.5 furlong race?

Medaglia d'Onore's dam, Always Ready, was a winner who earned $29,294. Always Ready is a half-sister to More Than Ready, millionaire and grade I winner.

It was all about the girls at Woodbine, as fillies took the first three spots. This is not an uncommon phenomenon in baby races, as fillies, like human girls, mature faster than colts.

Our first Saarland starter will take to the track at Woobine. 5 other first-year stallions are represented in this race, Roar of the Tiger (Can'tstopthiscat), Alke (Dublin Lane), Cuvee (Cuvee Star), Roaring Fever (Tin Pan Alley Cat), and Gimmeawink (Player's List).

Then, the fun really began in the post parade when Royal Card reared, dumped her rider, and ran off. The outrider made a nice grab to stop her after only one furlong and she stayed in the race.

This race has some great names, Whistlin'along (by Mineshaft), Old Time Religion (by Buddha), Miss Hen (by Hennessy), and our featured girl, One Hot Toddy (by Congaree). Some creative people involved with this bunch.

I got my spot early by the #11 tree, so that I could be ready to take some pictures of our girl, Mostly Peace, but she was fashionable late.

Mostly Peace becomes the 2nd starter for our 1st-time sires and the first starter for Peace Rules. She sold for $80,000 as a yearling. Mostly Peace's dam earned $276,525 and won or placed in 8 stakes including a victory in the Pucker Up (gr. II).

Curly was devoid of early speed, spending the early part of the race hanging out in the back of pack (strangely enough with Curly Cameli). But, he did make a nice middle move, passing a few before tiring.
