Royal Card gets One Hot Toddy
Didn't make it to Keeneland to watch this one and too bad as it was an interesting race. I hope some of you were able to catch it either in person or on TVG. First, One Hot Toddy was getting some mention and air time from the TVG personnel. This is usually not a good thing. Then, the fun really began in the post parade when Royal Card reared, dumped her rider, and ran off. The outrider made a nice grab to stop her after only one furlong and she stayed in the race. Then, when the gates opened, Trail of Silver refused to go anywhere. Our filly was pinched back a bit at the start, but not seriously impeded. Most of the running was done by Old Time Religion, A Day for Dancing, and Royal Card who traded positions before Royal Card drew off to become the first winner for Chapel Royal. One Hot Toddy didn't make much of an impact, but she did pass a few horses which is a good sign, and she earned $1,245 for her fifth-place finish.
