You may have heard that there is this little race called the Kentucky Derby Saturday. But, what are you going to do after it's over? If your horse wins, you'll be looking for another race to keep the feeling going, a way to extend the celebration. If not, you need something to turn your luck around, uplift your spirits. Here is the perfect solution, cheer Curly on as he makes his second start. He's shifted his game to Arlington and he's going a mile this time, which should suit him much better. Interestingly, Stirrup Excitment, who was in Curly's debut, is in the race as well.

The sales leader from the race is Tiz Clever (Tiznow - Eliot Chacer
by Clever Trick) who sold for $180,000 as a yearling. Tiz Clever's dam
was a stakes-winner who earned $107,950. She is the dam of 3 winners.
Tiz Clever has run 3 times, finishing 2nd once.
Bad Bandit (El
Corredor - Kissin Princess by Kissin Kris) sold for $80,000 as a
yearling. He has run 7 times and has not yet hit the board.
The
dam of Calzone (A. P. Indy - Corrazona by El Gran Senor) was a grade I
winner who earned $518,218. Calzone is a half- or full-brother to 4
winners including Olmodavor who won or placed in 7 graded stakes and
earned $706,540. Calzone's best finish was 7th in his 4 starts.
Western Heart (Western Playboy - Dress Shoes by
Magloire) is interesting because he was bred in Tennessee, a state not
known for its Thoroughbred breeding program. Dress Shoes, the dam of
Western Heart, earned $122,439 and has produced 2 winners including the
stakes-placed Dress for Success, a full-brother to Western Heart.
5-year old Western Heart is the oldest participant (all the other
runners are 3) in the race and he has finished 2nd once in two career starts, both
this year.
Curly is 5-1 on the morning line, so we are not the only ones who think he has a good shot.
Singing Rose (filly; Congaree - Dial a Song by Mining) was a scratch from Thursday's race, so she will wait for another day to make her debut. This scratch was not unexpected since she worked on April 30th. The race was won by Simplify (Pulpit - Classic Olympio by Olympio) with Leigh McLovin 2nd and Ride On Josephine third.

I have fallen a bit behind again recording workouts with all the Triple Crown activities, but I will try to update them soon.
