Who U Like? Shoe Strap?

Birdstone joins in the fun, as Shoe Strap (Birdstone - Boot Strap by Storm Boot) becomes the first starter for that stallion. Shoe Strap is a homebred for Marylou Whitney Stables (who also bred and raced Birdstone). Boot Strap won one race (and $26,760) in her career. However, her sire, Storm Boot, is known for injecting speed in his offspring, which makes a nice cross with Birdstone's stamina. Boot Strap is also a half-sister to two winners, both of which won as 2-year olds.  Boot Strap's dam, Broad Legacy, is also the dam of a 2006 Birdstone offspring, the colt Broad Stone.

Two horses have experience in this race.  Regardlesofoutcome (Bring the Heat - Bridget Says by Patton) has finished 3rd twice in two starts, most recently at Keeneland on April 24 behind the impressive Mr Mistoffelees. He is the first foal out of a dam who earned $100,095 and won as a 2-year old. Good Sermon (Honour and Glory - Sermon by Pulpit) finished 5th at Churchill Downs on April 30th. Good Sermon, who sold for $95,000 as a yearling, is the 2nd foal out of a winning mare who earned $52,674. Sermon's first foal, Clearly Foxy, has earned $121,918 through 2008 and won the Natalma Stakes (CAN-III) as a 2-year old.

The top-seller from this race is War Lap (War Chant - Indy Five Hundred by A. P. Indy) who brought $150,000 as a yearling.  War Lap is the first foal out of the grade I winner, Indy Five Hundred, who won the Garden City Breeders' Cup (gr I) and earned $244,510. She was also a 2-year old winner.

Another Dancer (Maria's Mon - Chance Dance by American Chance) is out of the multiple-stakes winning mare, Chance Dance, who earned $339,395 in her career. Another Dancer, who sold for $75,000 as a yearling, is her first foal.

Selling for $50,000 as a yearling was Pointing Home (Point Given - Palace Story by Palace Music). Pointing Home is a half- or full- brother to 6 winners, 3 of which won as 2-year olds.
