Candy Ride's El Brujo takes down Sargon and the Cowboy

First-time starter El Brujo and the experienced Broadway Al battled throughout the stretch in this one with El Brujo prevailing by a head to become the first winner for Candy Ride. Silver Rocket closed nicely to pick up third. Sargon and Katolak Cowboy finished 5th and 6th respectively. Katolak Cowboy ran evenly, maintaining his 6th spot the whole way round. On the other hand, Sargon started slow, but gained some good ground at the end and would seem to have benefited from the experience.

James Dances Over Times, Express, and Cradle

Three out of the 7 (after the scratch of My Pal Richie) runners in this race were Maiden Watch horses, but the best finish was Tranquil Times' third place. Becky's Express and Cradle of Peace finished 6th and 7th respectively. My Dominick James was an impressive debut runner, taking the lead in the stretch and drawing off to a new track record for 4.5 furlongs. He also took all the early money from the bettors, although Join in the Dance was the favorite when the gates opened. Tranquil Times was a bit green in the stretch, so should benefit from the experience.
