Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown - Holiday Runner by Meadowlake) draws a full field of 12 for his debut at Churchill.  Selling for $400,000 as a yearling and $775,000 as a 2-year old, Reynaldothewizard (besides being a hard name to type - try it) is the 2nd foal out of the stakes winner, Holiday Runner. Holiday Runner won the Three Chimneys Juvenile Stakes and the Fashion Stakes as a 2-year old and finished 2nd in the Adirondack (gr. II) that same year. She also won her debut. Her first foal, Seventh Street, finished 3rd in his only start.

Indeedingly (Street Cry (IRE) - Dance Cat by Danzig) finished 2nd in his only start, a 5.5 Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs on June 4. Indeedingly sold for $200,000 as a yearling. He is a half-brother to one winner and his dam is a half- or full- sister to 10 winners including 1974 Kentucky Derby winner Cannonade and grade III stakes winner Circle Home who won the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. III) and the Heritage Stakes (gr. III) as a 2-year old.

Finishing 8th on May 31 in a 4.5 Maiden Special race at Presque Isle Downs was Sarina's Feistycat (Tale of the Cat - Sean's Baby by Thunder Gulch). Sarina's Feistycat is the first foal out of the stakes-placed mare, Sean's Baby who earned $80,475.

The only other experienced horse in the race is Coughsgone (More Than Ready - Norrsken by Northern Jove) who finished 10th in his only start, a 5 furlong Maiden Special contest at Churchill on June 14. His dam earned $76,227 and won 7 races. She has produced 7 winners including stakes winners Pancho Norte and Bagshot who won the I'm Smokin Stakes as a 2-year old.

Hunch players will not be able to resist an exacta of Reynaldothewizard and Maloof Magic (Tale of the Cat - Amour Mio by Private Terms) who sold for $300,000 as a yearling. Maloof Magic's dam is a half-sister to 11 winners including grade II stakes winner, Nicholas. (If only the Birdstone colt, Jazzandthemagician could have been entered in this race as well).

Also selling for $300,000 as a yearling was Beethoven (Sky Mesa - Moonlight Sonata by Carson City). Beethoven is the first foal out of Moonlight Sonata who won the Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes (gr. III) as a 2-year old and earned $145,203 in her career.

More Than Global (More Than Ready - Worldly Nell by World Appeal), who sold for $165,000 as a yearling, is out of a mare who was stakes-placed as a 2-year old. More Than Global is a half- or full-brother to 10 winners, 4 of which won during their 2-year old season.

Bringing $70,000 as a 2-year old was Malibu Maverick (Posse - Peak My Interest by Peaks and Valleys). Malibu Maverick is a half-brother to one winner (who won as a 2-year old) and his dam is a half-sister to 4 winners.

Piso Mojado (El Corredor - Gentle Mind by Seattle Slew) who sold for $50,000 as a yearling, is out of a dam who is a half-sister to 2 winners.

The dam of After Shock (Elusive Quality - Shawnee County by Chief's Crown) won the Tempted Stakes (gr. III) and placed third in the Demoiselle Stakes (gr. II) as a 2-year old. She also won her debut that year. In her career, she earned $430,660 in just 11 starts.

This Is My Game (Sky Mesa - Four Plus Four by Major Impact) is out of the stakes winning mare, Four Plus Four, who earned $206,605. Four Plus Four has produced 2 winners from 2 to race, including stakes winner Trainee.

The dam of Be by Me (Vindication - Small Promises by Carson City) won or placed in 9 stakes including a win in the Shady Well as a 2-year old. She earned $567,913 in her career and also won her debut. Be by Me is her first foal.

News and Notes

Congratulations to The Cliff's Edge and Hi Teck Man who both had their first winner on June 29. The Cliff's Edge's son, Efficient Edge, won at Churchill Downs while Lady Hi Teck, a filly by Hi Teck Man, was victorious at Lone Star Park.

In New York on Sunday, Dagnabit won the Tremont and Bold Union took the Astoria. The favorite in the Tremont was our old friend, Mr Mistoffelees who finished 5th and last after stumbling at the start.

Nine-year old Patrick Munro had his wish granted to meet with Smarty Jones. Be sure to check out the video after reading the story.
