Katolak Cowboy looked amazing in the post parade, inspiring me to put $10 on him to win. First-timer Watch Stopper wanted the early lead, so Katolak Cowboy sat back in 2nd. Watch Stopper started to draw away a bit, but the Cowboy kept coming on the outside. His tenaciousness (plus Watch Stopper's inexperience) paid off and he swept by the leader to draw off by 3. Passport Joe cruised by Watch Stopper as well, although that one did well to hold third.

Doremifasollatido Sings the Right Tune

Sweet Ober Melissa held a brief lead in this one, but she was no match for Doremifasollatido (I hope it didn't take the rest of you as long to get that name as it did me. I didn't get it until the the pre-race discussion). Doremifasollatido took the lead and continued to get further and further in front with little urging. Saarlandisourland went off at 59-1 and ran to her odds, last the whole way round. Let's hope she learned something about racing and improves next time out.

Jazz Her Up Rules Nobly

Sweetsformyhoney took the early lead, but she was soon joined by Jazz Her Up. As Sweetsformyhoney tired, Jazz Her Up began to draw away. Wise Passion made up good ground despite being bumped a couple of times. Noble Rule was near the back early and wide most of the race. She began to pick off some horses, but was no match for the top two. It was a good debut, nonetheless. Our other runner, Aerin She Lovely was scratched.

At Santa Anita, Smart N Lonely (filly; Smarty Jones - Lonely Girl by Relaunch) worked 3 furlongs in :39.20. Smart N Lonely's dam, Lonely Girl, was a stakes winner at 2 and 3 and finished 2nd in the Fantasy (gr. II). Lonely Girl is the dam of 8 winners.
