Herb's Fiddle Leaves the Old Man Behind

Herb's Fiddle took the lead soon after the start and increased his lead throughout. Old Man Bill (Speightstown) broke well and got a good rail position. He never gave up, but he couldn't make a dent in the lead established by Herb's Fiddle. However, Old Man Bill was well clear of the rest.

Miss Bodine is Wicked over Spicey

Two scratches left this one as a four horse race. Miss Bodine took the lead at the break and won rather easily. There was early competition for place between Abigail's Gold and Tapitha, but Tapitha tired and left that place to Abigail's Gold. Wickedly Spicey (Speightstown) trailed throughout. Hard to judge ability (good or bad) in a four horse race. I'll give all four the benefit of the doubt.

Racer was Ready

Ready Racer took the early lead followed closely by Sir Bubba, while Charco stalked in third. Sir Bubba tired and Ready Racer drew off to victory. Despeightitall broke a little slow and then fell back even farther, loosing touch with the main pack of horses, about 15 lengths behind the leader. That he managed to catch one horse and finish 8 is a positive sign.
