Gallatin Forest gets the Midnight Break

Midnight Break broke well with the leaders, but then settled at the back of the leading group. Up front, Prince Repent and Gallatin Forest were battling. Midnight Break advanced steadily on the outside, but couldn't catch Gallatin Forest, who had shaken free from Prince Repent. In the end, Gallatin Forest was a 5 length winner. However, Midnight Break was clear of the others. Prince Repent just edged the pack for third.

News and Notes

Although not a maiden any longer, I did want to mention that Guadalcanal runs in an allowance race at Saratoga on August 22. It's 1 3/8 miles on the turf for three year olds and up. Guadalcanal is 15-1 on the morning line. He might be worth a few dollars, considering his impressive maiden score last time out.
