A Soulful Win on the Turf

Spaniard scampered to the lead, delivering his best imitation of half-sis Indian Blessing. Umbra, half of the favored entry, was off a beat slow. Into My Soul (Pleasantly Perfect) secured a good spot at the rail, sitting in 4th or 5th. Spaniard went clear by 4, but the field began reeling him in. Bold Vindication and Memorized took first crack, but he shook them off. However, there was a hole open on the rail and Into My Soul, having saved ground the whole way, zipped on through. Favored Umbra was closing, but it was too late, as Pleasantly Perfect's 4th winner scored by a neck at odds of 44-1. Into My Soul's first turf run was worth the wait. MTO Audible (Congaree) will have to wait another day.

Meggido Overtakes the River

River Saar (Saarland) came out of the gate running and pressed the early pace set by Sherribaldi. She took the lead on the turn, and I thought for a moment it would be a three for three day. But, she tired in the stretch and was passed first by favorite Meggido and then Daily Confession. River Saar fought back, but she had to settle for third, definitely an improvement over her debut.
