Put It Down Puts Down Congaraa, Steel Lucky

Put It Down went right to the front, but he was joined by Congaraa (Congaree). Those two raced for a team for a time, but Put It Down was too much and drew off. Freds My Friend came on the scene and looked ripe to take second, but Congaraa showed some guts, shook that one off and finished a clear second. Steel Lucky (Congaree) was near the back early and made up some ground to finish 4th.

Joe Rocks Berti and Ambraw

Mister Jo Jangles took command early, followed by Ambraw (Congaree). Classic Bridges made a move and hit the front, but couldn't hold it. Then, it was Ambraw's turn to lead. But, both Rockin' Joe and Presents for Berti (Congaree) were closing strongly. Rockin' Joe hit the lead despite lugging in and needed everything he had to hold off Presents for Berti, who had to settle for 2nd. Ambraw held well for third. There was an objection filed by Presents for Berti's jockey against the winner, but it was disallowed. Rockin Joe is the 7th winner for Johar. Presents for Berti and Ambraw both appear to have promising turf futures.

Upper Key is a a half-sister to 2 winners, including one that won at 2. This Kitty's Mine is the first foal out of a mare who is a full-sister to stakes winner Trump Maria and a half-sister stakes winner Gray Mood.

Because of all the connections among the runners, I'm going to handle this race a little differently, more in a chronological manner.

On July 6 at Suffolk Downs, Grammie's Jammies (Graeme Hall - Erin's Tour by Tour d'Or) and Secret Tracker (Cimarron Secret - Traki Traki Oh Oh by Katowice) faced off, finishing 5th and 6th respectively. Fusaichi Rose, who sold for $14,000 at 2, is the first foal out of an unraced mare who is a half-sister to 2 winners, including stakes winner Roscius (IRE).

In one race on August 2 at Suffolk, Fusaichi Rose was 2nd, Diamond Gavel (Rossini - Diamonds and Jade by Naevus) was 4th, Grammie's Jammies was 7th, and Nancy's Pride (Three Wonders - Senorita Foxfire by Fight Over) was 8th. Diamonds and Jade, dam of Diamond Gave, was a winner at ages 2 through 6. She has produced 2 winners, including Gie who was stakes-placed at 2. Nancy's Pride is out of a winning mare who has produced 3 winners. In another Suffolk race on August 2, Min d'Oro's debut, Secret Tracker was inishing 4th, but was placed 3rd with Min d'Oro's dq.

On August 16 at Suffolk, Fusaichi Rose and Grammie's Jammies met again, with Fusaichi Rose finishing 2nd again and Grammie's Jammies 5th.

Meeting on August 30 were Little Miss Kisses (B. L.'s Appeal - Chocolate Kisses by Manlove), Secret Tracker, Diamond Gavel, who were 2nd, 3rd, and 9th. Little Miss Kisses is out of a winning mare who has produced one winner from one to run. That winner won at 2.

Livin Lovin kicked butt today. Birdstone is doing well as a very uncommercial sire.

sophiekea - Livin Lovin did kick some butt. I wasn't surprised that she won, but the margin was unexpected.
