Sunday Blitzes Over Ritzy Jones

Z Day and Dr Large mixed it up early, with Sunday Blitz tracking. Z Day got away from Dr Large, but couldn't hold off Sunday Blitz. Ritzy Jones (Smarty Jones) broke well and was sitting in the 2nd pack. He lost a little ground and ran evenly late. Williamsburg pulled one of those 2-year old right turns and dumped jockey Joe Bravo. He went down pretty hard, but he rode the next race.

When I turned on the TV to watch this race, they were flashing results for other tracks and I saw that Smarty Marty had won. I wondered how I could have missed her start. Well, the results flashed again and it turned out to be a standardbred called Smarty Marty Z

An Old Fashioned Win

Old Fashioned definitely looked best in the post parade and went right to the lead when the gates opened. He battled with A. P. Cardinal for awhile, but soon put that one away and drew off to win by 15. Count On Lou was around for 2nd and R B Lion King closed for third. Perfect Edge (Pleasantly Perfect) didn't show much. He did appear to make a bit of a move, but flattened out and finished 7th. I would vote for a return to the turf.

Jemmealey Leaves Saarlandisourland Behind

Gossip Gil held the early lead, but 80-1 Mi Helena was in close pursuit. These two dueled into the stretch when Jemmealey, who had been stalking, made a move and swept to the lead. Gossip Gil faded, but Mi Helena held well finishing third. Katara rallied to pick up 2nd. Saarlandisourland (Saarland) broke ok and came 4 wide in the stretch. She didn't make much headway, however, and finished 7th.
