Diva Gets the Gold over Me You and Her

Why Now took the early lead, pursued first by Reckless Betty and then by Spoilher. Me You and Her (Smarty Jones) was on the rail, in 4th. She was briefly blocked, but then began to tire and finished 8th. Diva's Gold was never too far back, had to steady, but came running to get by them all. At the end, she was better than 3 in front. Diva's Gold was the first of 7 winners on the day for Julien Leparoux.

Proud Aly Takes a Pleasant Flight

Proud Aly went right to the lead in this one. The nearest pursuers early were One Wonders and Bad Boy Luke. Pleasant Flight (Pleasantly Perfect) took a run at Proud Aly in the stretch, but was unable to make up much ground and weakened late. It's difficult to catch a horse after he's allowed to set easy fractions. There was a three horse photo for place, which Pleasant Flight was involved in, but he lost out to both Outta Space and Dark Corner, and ended up 4th. Pleasant Flight was vanned off after this one. He did not appear to be in distress during the race, but I didn't see the gallop out, because the cameras were focused on the winner. However, Dynawill galloped out well, as he was with the winner.

West Run(s)way from Pacificator

Kid Gusto took to the front early, but he appeared to be running away a bit. Smokin' Legend and Attractive Ride were the closest pursuers. However, all three of these weakened in the stretch. Seal Team and Do Drop In were closing, but closing best of all was Runway West. He came rolling 3-wide and passed everyone to score a clear victory. This was Julien Leparoux's record-tying 7th win on the day. Pacificator (Peace Rules) wasn't much involved in this one, as he was on or near the back throughout.

Missunitednations (Peace Rules - Sister Greeley by Mr. Greeley) returns, after breaking her maiden by 7 lengths in her 2nd start, on October 11 at Philadelphia Park. In that race, she went straight to the front and never looked back. She'll stretch out to a mile (from 6.5 furlongs) for this one. Since her win, she's worked once at Philadelphia Park, going 4 furlongs in :47.00 on November 4.

Fools in Love (Not For Love - Parlez by French Deputy) has faced nothing but stakes company since breaking her maiden in her debut on July 5 at Monmouth. On August 2, she was 3rd in the Colleen Stakes, and on August 31, she was 2nd in the Sorority Stakes. Both of those races were at Monmouth. She then tried Maryland-breds in the Maryland Million Lassie Stakes on October 4, finishing 2nd. Her most recent effort came in the Tempted Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct on November 2, where she finished 6th behind Livin Lovin and Gemswick Park. The Tempted was at a mile, the same distance as this allowance test.

Brave Love (Indian Charlie - Loveswept by Clever Trick) broke her maiden in her 2nd start, at Philadelphia Park on August 10 in a 5 furlong Maiden race. She then finished 4th in an allowance race at Philadelphia Park on September 2, and 2nd in an allowance/optional claiming race on September 25 at Monmouth. Her most recent effort was in the Brandywine Stakes at Philadelphia Park on October 28. On a sloppy race track, she finished 5th in that 6 furlong contest. Brave Love has never run beyond 6 furlongs.

Hogan Beach (Harlan's Holiday - Runnin Wonder by Chimes Band) also finished 5th in a stakes race in her most recent start. In her case, it was in the 1 1/16 mile Blue Hen Stakes at Delaware Park on October 18. Her maiden win came in her third start, in a mile race at Laurel on October 1. Hogan Beach's earlier efforts included a third-place finish behind Sky Diva, who won the Frizette (gr. I) in her next start.

The only other entrant with stakes experience is Queen of Song (Unbridled's Song - Rose Queen by Storm Cat) who finished 4th in the Gin Talking Stakes (restricted to Maryland-breds) in her debut on September 6. Queen of Song broke her maiden in her third and most recent start, on November 2 at Delaware Park in a 6 furlong race. Second in that race was She's a Wow. Six furlongs is the farthest Queen of Song has run.

American Romance (Successful Appeal - Special American by Quiet American) broke her maiden in her third and most recent start, on October 10 at the Meadowlands. That race, which was run at 6 furlongs, was restricted to horses bred in New Jersey. Her earlier attempts were at 5.5 furlongs.
