An Allowance Score for Into My Soul

Western Fable took the early lead, setting comfortable fractions. Pegasus Tommy D. and Winthrop House were the closest pursuers. Into My Soul (Pleasantly Perfect) was in touch with the leaders in 4th. As they approached the top of the stretch, Into My Soul made his move. A tiring Western Fable retreated without much protest. Winthrop House was a little tougher, but Into My Soul wore him down. Keeping the Honor closed late to get second. The turf seemed a little tiring, but Into My Soul kept at it, to score a clear win, increasing his earnings to $75,500. I can't understand how he went off at almost 8-1, but I'm not complaining.

Long Live Dixie Drives to the Win

Home Run Star set the early pace, with Grosso pursuing. Long Live Dixie (Peace Rules) was biding her time back in 6th. She swung wide at the stretch and rolled past the tiring front runners. Favorite Perfect Pet was closing too, but Long Live Dixie had the jump on that one and she drove to her 2nd win at a nice 19-1. I hope someone cashed, I foolishly went out to lunch and had to watch the replay.

It's Worth a Paid Preview

In contrast to Into My Soul and Long Live Dixie, Paid Preview (Speightstown) went off at even money in his race and he didn't disappoint. He sat back of the pace of Clean Lil Lion early and then started moving on the turn. He cruised to the front and kept on rolling, winning by better than 7. He has proved to be a wise investment, having almost earned back his purchase price in one race. Paid Preview is the 14th winner for his sire Speightstown. Interestingly, I received a workout notification for Paid Preview for November 20, a decent time of 4 furlongs in :49.60. I'm trying to find out if he actually worked that morning. I didn't hear any late works announced on the broadcast of the race.

Lady's Laughter Just Holds off Stone Legacy

Lady's Laughter broke on top and set the pace, pressured by Multipass. Meanwhile, Stone Legacy (Birdstone) bobbled at the start. She was allowed to settle, however, and began picking horses off one by one. Lady's Laughter continued to lead up front, as Multipass began to fade. Stone Legacy continued to close and close, but she just came up a neck short. She never stopped trying and was past the winner after the finish. This was a very nice effort for Stone Legacy who continues to show a lot of determination. Kudos also for jockey Julio Garcia who didn't rush her after the bobble as some would have.

Roadster Drives Over Curly

As was often announced during the running of this one, it was the last race for the year on the Hawthorne turf. Straight Count took the early lead, pursued by Purple Majesty, Mr. Seabra, and Stanley G. None of his pursuers stuck around for the ending. Curly was hanging around in the back of the pack. Roadster, A. P. Answer, and Ashtonofun were all closing. At the line, there were four horses separated by noses and necks, with Roadster getting his nose down in front. Alas, Curly was not one of the four, as he was another couple lengths back in 7th. Regardless of the final placing, it was a much improved effort for Curly who was making up ground at the end.
