Rachel is a Star

The Stars of Tomorrow Card II at Churchill Downs became the Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) show after her dominating performance in the Golden Rod (gr. II). She broke well and went right to the lead. War Echo tried to go with her and then Sara Louise took up the chase, but they were no match for Rachel who seemed to get stronger as the race progressed. The final margin was more than 4. Rachel Alexandra, who established a new stakes record in the Golden Rod, ran more than a second faster than Beethoven did in winning the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes. Rachel Alexandra did her family proud, as dam Lotta Kim finished 2nd in the Golden Rod. Read more about the Golden Rod here.
