The Dream Comes True

Dream Now (Medaglia d'Oro) stalked the early pace set by Mi Forest Amor, took over in the stretch and then it was just a question of the margin. This was a very nice win, as Dream Now becomes our first 3-year old winner. It may not have been the strongest field, but you had to like how he did it.

She couldn't sustain it, however, and weakened to 5th. Suzy Hoo Hoo came rolling 7 wide and went by everyone for the victory. Our other runner, Hold Me Touch Me (Saarland) was in a good position early, but dropped back finishing 8th.

Lilly Finds Paradise Over Exclusive Scheme

Wheelinndealin was free-wheeling out in front early, but couldn't keep it up. Sassification and Taxadame were chasing, but tired as well. Instead it was Lilly of Paradise, who stumbled at the break, but rolled in the stretch winning by more than 4. Exclusive Scheme (Saarland) steadied in the first turn and never seemed to recover. She beat only the favorite, American Land.

Other Results for January 1

La Equivocada (filly; Smarty Jones) dueled for most of the Ano Nuevo Clasico at Camarero Race Track, but she tired in deep stretch and ended up 5th (at least I'm pretty sure she was 5th. The website only lists down to 4th and Equibase won't have the result for a few days. I'm going by my view of the replay).

Long Live Dixie (filly; Peace Rules) lost a heartbreaker at Laurel. She sat back off the pace early, as Little Miss Kisses set the fractions. Long Live Dixie came running wide, but she just couldn't quite get there, losing by short head.
