Alma Chacing a Red Cup of Tea

Thanks for all the votes in the 2009 First-crop sires poll. I will keep it active for awhile longer (see the bottom of this post), before posting the results. I can definitely see that everyone loves a poll, so I will try to make them a semi-regular feature of the blog.

A couple of interesting races for January 15, including a mile contest at Gulfstream with some quality pedigrees, that may have some thinking Derby.

Primary Witness Stomps By

Another Success took the early advantage, but was soon overtaken by heavy favorite Stomp. Stomp held that lead into the stretch, but couldn't hold off first-timer Primary Witness, who came running 3 wide. Unforgivingmonarch had to steady several times, made a run, but weakened to third. Midnight Mischief (Medaglia d'Oro) was up close early, but faded to 9th. Higher Peace (Peace Rules) made a bit of a move on the turn, but couldn't close. He ended up 7th.

Maiden Special Weight

Primary Witness $15.40
$5.80

An interesting blog site!  Obviously the horses I will be following are Webcast, Perfect Cup of Tea, Droplet and Malibu Prayer!!!!!!  The Seattle Slew factor again!!!!!!

I also love Storm Cat so am wondering why you ignored Bluegrass Cat when you compiled your list?  He had a good, solid racing record and being by Storm Cat out of an A P Indy mare makes him commercially viable and surely a strong candidate for success as a stallion?!!!!?????

God Bless

Best Wishes

Abbie Knowles - Bluegrass Cat's oldest are yearlings. He will have to wait until next year to make the blog.

By the way, I did not compile the list. It is made up of suggestions made by readers.

Hiya,  sorry about that.  Misread Bluegrass Cat's yearlings as 2 y olds in the Stallion directory.  My mistake.

Your readers obviously need educating into what a fantastic racehorse Seattle Slew was (they have evidently forgotten he is the only unbeaten Triple Crown winner!!! Plus he was a sensational 4 year old too even though he almost died of colitis earlier that year!)  His record as a Stallion, Sire of Sires, Broodmare Sire etc etc etc should speak for itself!!!!!  With A P Indy, Pulpit, Tapit, Sky Mesa, Vindication, Officer, Jump Start, Friends Lake etc doing really well to exceptionally well in 2008 it does not look like undue optimism that some of his Freshman sire relatives will excel this!

I can live in hope!!!

God Bless

Best wishes
