One Hot Toddy Triumph

  • Comments

One Hot Toddy (Congaree) stumbled badly at the start, as her nose went to the dirt, and trailed the field. Up front, Truly Spectacular and Princess Kaylyn were battling for the lead. One Hot Toddy began to make up ground, racing wide. She hit the front and drew away. This was an impressive performance for One Hot Toddy, who easily could have given up after that start. It was also a nice performance by jockey Elvis Trujillo, who didn't rush her after the poor beginning.

Ameribelle (Medaglia d'Oro) held her rail spot and was in contention into the stretch, but weakened late to finish 6th. Saar Treaty (Saarland) steadied early and didn't have much impact after that, finishing 10th.

Kaydeross Loves Mambo

Tartan Plaid took a lot of early money in this one, but Missy Loves Mambo (Peace Rules) went off as the slight favorite. Tartan Plaid broke on top with Sachem Road. Missy Loves Mambo looked uncomfortable in the early going and was shuffled back to last. Sachem Road put Tartan Plaid away, but couldn't hold Kaydeross who was closing relentlessly. At this point Missy Loves Mambo was still not in the picture. She made up a tremendous amount of ground late to get into the third position, and should improve next time out.

Ultimate Beauty Holds Them Off

Ultimate Beauty took the early lead, pursued by Dress Blues and Pyote. Stone Legacy (Birdstone) was never far off the pace, and moved into 2nd after 6 furlongs. Sue's Update (Medaglia d'Oro) ran evenly to finish 5th, Bugle Ann (Birdstone) made a bit of a move, but flattened out and finished 9th. Doo Woppa Do (Medaglia d'Oro) was near the back throughout.
