N. Y. Wise Guy has Unlimited Capitol

N. Y. Wise Guy took to the lead out of the gate, with Batesville the closest pursuer. Fufty Too (Speightstown) was rushed up to join the pacesetters, but he weakened in the stretch. About that time, Keepinonestepahead made a bid and got to the front. However, N. Y. Wise Guy fought back to get the win. The best Maiden Watch performance came from 57-1 Capitol Limited (Saarland), who circled the field 6 wide and was gaining on the top pair at the end. The third Maiden Watch horse, Midnight Break (Congaree) didn't show much, finishing 9th.

Stan Taps Better Than Gold

Stan the Tap Man and Begriff went after the early lead and dueled for a time. But, Stan the Tap Man pulled away on the turn and assumed control. Better Than Gold (Medaglia d'Oro) was in a good position, but he couldn't make up any ground and had to settle for fourth. Stan the Tap Man seemed home free, but King Andrew was coming. The margin was diminishing at the end, but Stan the Tap Man held on for the win.
