Just Right Just Misses

Atlantic Slick and longshot My Boy Corbyn were the first to emerge from the pack. My Boy Corbyn gave in after a half, but Atlantic Slick went on. Just Right (Pleasantly Perfect) joined in on the fun, coming wide on the turn. He overtook Atlantic Slick, but favorite Rabbit Tracks was coming. The two of them battled to the wire, but Rabbit Tracks prevailed by a head. Still, a very promising first turf start for Just Right. Another one who made a good impression was 3rd place finishing Dutch Striker, who was up close early, dropped back, and then closed. Precious Beans (Medaglia d'Oro), who was at the back early, make a menacing on the final turn, going 6 wide, but he flattened out, finishing 8th.

Also in Action on January 27

Birdrock (Birdstone - Eternal Glory by Danzatore), who had to stay in the barn was racing was canceled at Beulah on January 23, will try again to make her 6th start. This time, she'll take on older fillies and mares in a 6 furlong Maiden Special Weight contest. Birdrock was last seen finishing 5th at Turfway Park. Her best finish was 3rd, which she achieved on August 17 at Thistledown, and on December 18 at Turfway. Birdrock is out of a winning mare who has produced 3 winners, including stakes winner Neverlacken.

Tbilisi (filly; Birdstone - Tripp Trial by Skip Trial) makes her first start outside Woodbine, as she takes on 10 in a 4.5 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Penn National. This one has a post of 10:02 PM ET. Last time out, Tbilisi finished 7th in a mile and a sixteenth contest at Woodbine on November 2. I'm a little skeptical about this one, since Tbilisi always seemed to need more distance, but maybe she'll show more speed at this level.

By the way, I'm working on pages for the 2009 First-Crop Stallions. I'm hoping to have them up soon.
