She's Our Annie and Mindy Sue Go 1-2

Instant Style lost her rider out of the gate. Sundayville Break went to the lead, but She's Our Annie (Medaglia d'Oro) was hounding her. She's Our Annie pulled free from Sundayville Break and left her behind. Mindy Sue (Pleasantly Pefect) made her move and surged past a weakening Sundayville Break. She couldn't catch She's Our Annie, but was well clear of the field. A good effort from both ends of the Maiden Watch exacta. Tweeter, the half-sister to Birdstone, ran evenly in 4th the whole way round.

Gabby's Golden Gal Worth the Wait

Elle a Gent took the early lead, dueling with Gabby's Golden Gal (Medaglia d'Oro). Elle a Gent began to sprint away from Gabby's Golden Gal, and the race seemed lost. But, Gabby's Golden Gal had yet to really start running. Once she got in gear again, she pulled away to win by 2. Magic Roberta took second late from the pacesetter Elle a Gent. Final time for the race was a nice 1:10.06. Rafael Bejarano seemed extremely confident aboard Gabby's Golden Gal, who entered the winner's circle with her ears pricked.

Charco Takes Persian

Favorite More Than Global took the early lead, but Persian (Peace Rules) was sticking close. He shook free from More Than Global, but drifted out. This helped allow Charco, who was always close, to get up for the win. Not sure why Charco was getting no respect at the windows (he was 5-1 on the morning line). Persian has now hit the board in 6 of 8 starts, and has earnings of $30,195. Our other runner, Brunelleschi (Medaglia d'Oro) finished 9th, but was placed 8th after being smacked by Atomic Force.

Other Results for February 6

The sixth time was the charm for Exclusive Scheme (filly; Saarland - Pyramid Scheme by Distant View), as she pressed the pace from the beginning and then wore down the leader to grab the win in the 5th at Aqueduct.

Oriental Sunshine (Medaglia d'Oro - Kristi's Sunshine by Miswaki) was our fourth winner on the day (and the third for Medaglia d'Oro) thanks to a nifty ride by Diego Rodriguez. She was reserved early, and then zipped up the inside to get the win over this Maiden Special Weight field of 3-year old and older fillies and mares at Turfway Park.

Canadian Royalty (colt; Peace Rules - Northern Babe by Polish Numbers) stalked the early pacesetters, came running four wide and took the lead over a game Now That's a Wager. However, Canadian Royalty was disqualified for interferring with that one, and will remain a maiden.

Spirit Seeker (filly; Peace Rules - Wild Gal by Wild Again) and Perfect Cup of Tea (filly; Pleasantly Perfect - Mycupoftea by Williamstown) dueled for much of their mile Maiden Claiming race at Gulfstream. Perfect Cup of Tea tired to 6th, while Spirit Seeker was caught late, finishing 2nd just a head behind the winner.

Long Live Dixie (filly; Peace Rules - Crafty Brat by Lucky Lionel) finished 2nd in her claiming race at Laurel behind the favorite, Little Miss Kisses.

First Magnitude (colt; Saarland - Fapindy by A. P. Indy) ran evenly in his Maiden Claiming race at Oaklawn, finishing 7th.

Haynesfield (Speightstown - Nothing Special by Tejabo) goes for his fourth win in a row, and his third stakes win in a row, as he takes on 5 in the Whirlaway. This time, his opponents include Maiden Watch horse Peace Town (Peace Rules - Darnestown by Williamstown), who also has 3 wins to his credit. Haynesfield broke his maiden on September 25 at Belmont, and then took the Damon Runyon on December 7 at Aqueduct, and the Count Fleet on January 3 at that same track. In that one, he stalked early before pulling away. His previous victories had been virtually gate-to-wire. Peace Town was a debut winner on June 17 at Delaware Park, and then won an optional/claiming race in his next start on August 14 at Laurel. His most recent race was a victory in the Maryland Juvenile Championship Stakes on December 27. That race was a mile and a sixteenth, the same distance as the Whirlaway.

Mike From Queens (Flatter - Fob by The Prime Minister) finished 3rd, behind Haynesfield, in the Count Fleet. In that race, he led for a time, but weakened. Mike From Queens broke his maiden in his third start, at 6 furlongs at Belmont on September 19. He then finished 2nd in the Finger Lakes Juvenile Stakes on November 1, and won a starter allowance race, before running in the Count Fleet.

Hehasnosay (Harlan's Holiday - Wife's Objection by Slewpy) broke his maiden 2nd time out on November 3 at Philadelphia Park. He then came from off the pace to take an allowance race at that track on December 15. Both of those wins were at a mile and a sixteenth.

Cellar Dweller (Rahy - Oriole Way by Cahill Road) is a familiar name to Maiden Watch, as he has run against Pitched Perfectly (4 times) and Cabaret Cowboy. His maiden score came in his 6th start, running a mile and a sixteenth at Aqueduct on January 2. In his most recent start, he was 4th at Aqueduct in an allowance/optional claiming race (behind Pitched Perfectly).

Zooger (Hold That Tiger - Heavenliness by Lord Avie) has made just two starts. In his debut on December 16 on a sloppy Philadelphia Park track, he finished 8th. He then broke his maiden at that track on January 5 at a mile and a sixteenth. He stalked in that race, scoring at odds of 27-1.

Abbie Knowles

Haynesfield won very impressively and so did Esperanza D'Oro.  Both are lovely looking horses and evidently talented!

Believe it or not it is not prerequisite for my favourites to have Seattle Slew in their pedigrees!!!! Giants Causeway, Pleasantly Perfect, Medaglio D'Oro, all the Darley stallions plus many more are favourites too.

I love the articles on Maiden Watch because all the research that is done means I can track down horses to follow with pedigrees i like.

I do go by looks too and am always falling in love with horses! Therefore my list of horses to follow is immense and it is great to be able to add more due to this blog site!

Many thanks.

God Bless

Best wishes

Abbie
