I picked a good day not to do previews, as the Maiden Horse performances on January 8 were mostly forgettable. The results are related below.

The Triple Crown nominations came out today, so I thought it would be fun to look at those on the list by our 2008 stallions. Most of the names are familiar, some not as much. You can view the complete list on the Triple Crown Mania portion of the Bloodhorse.com site.

Too bad Smarty Jones' filles/colts arent running very well. I was expecting more winners in his crop so far, especially with his dynamic abilities and having Smile in his bloodline. Hopefully things will start up soon for him. Any thoughts to why his crop isnt performing to the abilities expected?

Another very well researched and interesting article thank you.

Lots of very interesting pedigrees amongst the Triple Crown nominated horses particualry Keefer, Peace Town, Perfect Song, Cantankerous Clyde (no i do not like that name! Although he may be!) Jazzandthemagician, Hoopeo, Party Hard(not keen on this name either!) and Al Khali plus all the Congaree's and Pleasantly Perfects'!

TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT, DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE STALLION STONESIDER BY GIANTS CAUSEWAY OUT OF ADDED GILD BY GILDED TIMES?  HE  STANDS AT HIGHCLIFF FARM IN NEW YORK.  THERE IS A MOST BEAUTIFUL PHOTO OF HIM IN THE JANUARY 10TH BLOODHORSE AND HE IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!  DID HE RACE?  WIN ANYTHING?  HOW OLD IS HE?  HAS HE ANY RUNNERS OR WHEN DO THEY START RUNNING?  I ADORE THE GIANT AND SAW HIM RACE AT ASCOT; STONESIDER IS NOT UNLIKE HIM IN LOOKS!!! A MOST POWERFUL AND IMPRESSIVE INDIVIDUAL!

God Bless

Best wishes

Abbie

Jake - Mr. Hot Stuff was impressive, looks like he finally figured things out. We had a couple of his earlier starts on Maiden Watch and they were pretty forgettable. I thought he turned things around in his first start this year when he was third. It will be interesting to watch him take the next step.

Kathryn - One of the difficulties with Smarty Jones' offspring is that expectations were so high. It's hard for offspring to live up to that, undefeated Kentucky Derby winners do not come along every year (although it did happen last year!). There certainly were a number of new workers at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, so I would think that the best is yet to come.

Abbie - I actually like the name Cantankerous Clyde, has some character.

Stonesider won his only start, a maiden race at Belmont at 2. His first foals were born this year.

I would certainly agree that Giant's Causeway is a looker. He's one of those that make you go "wow" when you see him.
