I have completed the long promised pages for the First-crop stallions that we will be focusing on in 2009, Afleet Alex, Ghostzapper, Kitten's Joy, Rock Hard Ten, and Saint Liam. Please feel free to post your memories and/or thoughts about the stallions, as well as comments about the mares and the offspring. Note that only the named 2-year olds are listed. I will be adding more as they are named.
Finding Glory in Philly Town
This was a pretty eventful races. Just as Town Glory (Speightstown) hit the front, Thisladycanfly clipped heals with her, losing her rider. Then, Baycity Kitty stumbled trying to avoid the fallen rider and lost her rider in the process. Meanwhile, Town Glory sprinted clear of the trouble. It's probable that the 18 length margin would have been reduced had those behind not had to contend with loose horses, but there is no question who was the best in this one. Town Glory was under minimal urging to complete the 7 furlongs in 1:23.97. Both loose horses looked fine finishing the race (Thisladycanfly was actually 2nd under the wire) and the announcer reported that both jockeys were up (they both rode in later races).
