A Silent Mambo Salute

Missy Dances to Victory

Princess Maura held the early lead, but was finished after a half. Judical Leader and Sachem Road were also near the front. Missy Loves Mambo (Peace Rules), who went off as the favorite, chased the speed on the outside. In the stretch, she made her move and pulled away from the rest.

Presto Change O kept his rider on this time and that was all it took to get the victory. He quickly took to the lead, and continued to increase him margin throughout. The others chased in vain. Best of the rest, however, was Runningforspeight (Speightstown) who went off at odds of 32-1. The other Speightstown, Mission Gap, ran evenly, finishing 5th.

Santana Six Eclipses Tapis Magique

Favorite Santana Six was quick out of the gate, but so was longshot Bizet. Also in the mix was Henderson. Then, Amen and Amen took a run at Santana Six. All of these efforts failed. A more serious challenge was mounted by Polished, who was near the back early. He rolled wide on the turn and seemed like he would overtake the pacesetter. But, Santana Six had something left and got the win. Tapis Magique (Speightstown) was racing wide in mid-pack, faded a bit, and finished 8th.

Just Zensational

Gold Schleiger dueled with heavy favorite Zensational early, but the latter horse pulled away. Off the Wall, who won the award for best looking in the post parade, took a serious run at Zensational, but Zensational kept him at bay. Iron Fortitude (Medaglia d'Oro) and Party Hard (Medaglia d'Oro) fought for the 3rd spot, with Iron Fortitude winning that battle. Our third Medaglia d'Oro, Arcodoro, was pronounced soft by the HRTV crew, and maybe needing a race by his connections. He ran to his expectations, finishing 6th. But, watch for him down the road. Zensational, out of a Phone Trick mare, would seem to have distant limitations, but he is nice and fast. Final time was 1:08.64.

Perfect Song (colt; Pleasanlty Perfect - Prospector's Song by Prospector's Music) dueled with He Ain't Right from the start, as those two turned this one into a match race. At the wire, it was He Ain't Right by a head at odds of 17-1. They were well clear of the third-place horse. Perfect Song was not embarrassed, but he didn't impress as much as he did in his debut. Did the Polytrack have something to do with that?

Promise Me Merlot (gelding; Peace Rules - Promise Me Magic by Pentelicus) put in an even effort in his optional claiming race Tampa Bay, finishing 4th.

Tiger Rules (colt; Peace Rules - Danzig Tiger by Danzig Connection) ran 4th (last) the whole way round in his allowance race at Charles Town. However, he still earned $1,450. There are advantages to running in a 4 horse race.

Peacephilly (filly; Peace Rules - Afillyate by Blushing John) was in an ok position early, but backtracked, finishing last in her maiden claiming race at Tampa Bay.

Royal Treaty (colt; Saarland - Itama by Tabasco Cat) was scratched from his maiden claiming race at Oaklawn.

Still believe Perfect Song is the real deal and that he will bounce back at some point!  It is very early days yet and there are plenty big races to win!

Love the name ZENSATIONAL!  A potential sensational sprinting type?  Missy Loves Mambo, Santana Six and Presto Change O also recorded pleasing wins and the latter sounded really impressive!

Delighted Saarland is doing well with his runners this year seeing as he had to be very prematurely retired!  Hope he has a happy one!  Have you any idea if he will be retrained for another career?  I believe he is only around 10 years old.  Seems a bit young to be stuck in a field for the rest of his life?

I enjoy your witty headings!  Very clever!

God Bless

Best wishes

Abbie
