Our first chance to see some of the offspring of our First-crop sires in action came at the Fasig-Tipton Calder Selected Two-Year Olds in Training Sale. This was not the first 2-year old sale of the year, but the first to feature offspring by our sires. Ghostzapper led the way, with hip #174, a filly out of the Meadowlake mare, Holiday Runner, selling for $400,000. She breezed an eighth of a mile in :10.2.

Afleet Alex also had a filly go in :10.2, Hip #225, who sold for $220,000. She is called Inside Scoop and her dam is Mindset, by Coronado's Quest. Two other Afleet Alex offspring, a colt and a filly, did not meet their reserve prices.

Not to be outdone, Kitten's Joy also had an offspring work in :10.2, Hip #26, a colt out of the Salt Lake mare, Steaming Home, whose name I have recorded as Do What U Dare. He sold for $125,000.

Rock Hard Ten had two colts sell (as well as a filly who failed to meet her reserve), Hip #80, Doubledareu, out of the Diesis mare, Arjunand, worked in :10.4 and sold for $130,000. Hip #116 out of Clever Monique, by Clever Trick, sold for $125,000, after working in :11.0.

Saint Liam had two offspring entered, but they were both withdrawn.

The sale-topper was Hip #94, Cup o' Joe, a Medaglia d'Oro colt who worked in :10.3. He brought $1.6 million.
