I like that name, In This Life and mom is a Broad Brush. I see good things in the future.

I can't wait to see In This Life run.  I just love Ghostzapper and was in Texas when he won the Classic.  It is just wonderful to hear of all of the new foals being born to such champion horses.  Wow, we have a lot to look forward to.

12 Mar 2009 8:09 PM

I have a question - Once I hear about a promising colt or filly I will add it to my equibase 'stable' so I can be notified of workouts and then races. How can I find beforehand if an offspring of a sire that I like is working somewhere?

12 Mar 2009 9:51 PM
Blood-Horse Staff

AnneM - Brisnet has a Sire feature as part of their Stable Alert notification service - just enter the stallion and then will notify you of any activity. However, they do charge 35 cents per name, per day. is a free site where you can look up progeny and then enter the names in whatever notification system you use. However, the progeny lists are almost certainly not complete.

You can also purchase progeny reports at

If you are interested in one of the 5 first-crop stallions that we are focusing on, I have their named offspring listed on their pages - Afleet Alex, Ghostzapper, Kitten's Joy, Rock Hard Ten, and Saint Liam. More names will be added as they are assigned.

You might also try the website of the farm where the stallion stands. Some list named foals.

Another source is sales catalogs, although that is more hit or miss.

Hope this helps.

13 Mar 2009 2:30 AM

Thanks - I have found that the pedigree database is lagging in entering 2 year olds - I have entered a few myself and I am checking the colts and fillys from the Stallions that this blog features - I am really interested in offspring of Pollard's Vision and will just have to keep investigating.

13 Mar 2009 9:37 AM

AnneM - Do you have Party Vision? A filly out of the Spectacular Bid mare, Parting Bid. She's entered OBS March sale:

13 Mar 2009 11:58 AM

Thanks Vespone - Now I have her - I like the fact that Spectacular Bid is the dam sire. I hope she does well at the sale.

13 Mar 2009 8:57 PM

No problem, it's fun to look for these things when you're avoiding working. How about the colt, Pollard's Pal out of Legal Waiver by Wavering Monarch?

13 Mar 2009 9:52 PM

AnneM - what about the filly Trincadeiro, out of the Lil's Lad mare, Freisa?

13 Mar 2009 10:17 PM

thanks again - his name must have gotten changed somewhere along the line. He is now known as No Going Back - he sold at the 2008 Barrett's yearling sale for only $5,000.

13 Mar 2009 10:27 PM

Oooh, the dreaded name change. At least now most of the watch services automatically update horses whose names have changed. It didn't used to be that way.
